Sorry, I went way off topic.

I'll naff off. If I stay and argue, you would probably beat me with ignorance. :)

LOL, ah, insults. Pleased to see you were able to stoop so low. You see, where I come from "good for you" is a sarcastic insult. If you meant something different, then I apologise for biting.

I’m definitely not anti-gun as I own P99 for over 10 years and go shooting range once in a while with friends. But please enlighten me with all the benefits of having concealed handgun(s) in a car in modern society. I’m having hard time believing that you guys are in fear for your lives while driving and insist on having guns in your cars for protection.

In the past few months we've had several carjackings at gas stations in the Lewisville/Flower Mound area. One vehicle was taken from the owner at knifepoint while pumping gas (he was also forced to hand over his wallet).
Another attempted carjacking was an armed bank robber who had a damaged getaway car, crashed into a gas pump, tried to jack an SUV, was shot by vehicle owner, police arrived on location around a minute later.

We've even had several drive-thru robberies while vehicles are ordering food or getting cash from drive thru ATMs.

Most concealed carry holders are aware that it's better to have a firearm and not need it than to need a firearm and NOT have it.

The console firearm is actually my back-up gun, I carry a Sig P227 full size 45ACP. The wife, boys (age 15, 16 and 21) and I travel in the X, some fuel stations in unfamiliar areas require you to go inside to swipe the credit card.

We choose to be prepared if things go sideways, both inside and at the pump.

To me, carrying a gun is no different than carrying a spare tire and a couple wrenches.

I don't leave my house thinking "I am afraid of those nails on the highway. I must protect myself at all costs"

I carry a gun for the 1/million chance that something goes wrong. I have friends who were pummeled by thugs, in decent neighborhood, while doing things like pumping gas, getting groceries etc. I am not afraid - the criminals should be afraid of my 18 friends who can outrun them.

Listen, I've owned an FAL and still own an old Ruger P90. I'm clearly not anti-gun. And like other gun owners, I've enjoyed weekly trips to the range and killing beer cans in MI. The problem is this: I just really thought I could be on a forum...an AUTO forum, for once and not have the "gotta' watch out for them evil gang bangers, keep em loaded boys" kind of conversation. In my opinion, it's usually "code talk" of a bunch of closeted supremacist further perpetuating the idea that "they" are a threat, all the time, everywhere and that dealing with complex societal problems is best done with bullets(hollow points or otherwise). "They" usually meaning "innately violent" people who don't look like us and threaten our "freedoms". There are more than enough places online to voice those opinions...all day friggin' long, if that's what you're into. I chimed in because I'm frustrated that these misguided, simple minded, concepts seem to work their way into just about every conversation these day. I'm tired of it. This isn't a gun or a "survivalist" forum, so not having to hear anymore of the BS, should be a reasonable request. I understand that, somewhat hypocritically, I've just contributed to it and that I've made some assumptions. So, my apologies. Now, how about we just squash this entire GUN and killing conversation and get back to talking, helping each other out, etc. regarding X5's. Pretty please..with a cherry on top. Besides, it seems like we've all got a common enemy - we call them stealerships and I believe that's why this thread was started. ;)

Haha! As I suspected...a circle-jerk.

As I stated prior, needs to be continued in the lounge.

Sorry to hear that you have to deal with stuff like that. I understand your position. I guess that’s where we are apart. I don’t believe any of my cars or my wallet is worth someone’s life. And there is a good chance by pulling a gun, things can turn from bad to worse. I totally believe in protecting your home and family but taking lethal weapon to public places is where I disagree with. Anyways, enough chant from me. Back to the stealership thread.

Gun discussion has been moved to "off topic" (Lounge)

This dealership thread is WAY off the rails!

Here's a result of not being able to protect yourself while driving. These guys weren't out for stealing a car or wallet. They were out to get revenge for some road rage.

2nd arrest in NYC bikers' alleged road rage assault - CBS News

Basically, a bunch of bikers got pissed at a guy driving around in an SUV. After a couple of escape attempts, the SUV got stuck in traffic where the bikers caught back up. Then bashed his window in with a helmet, drug the driver out of the car, and started beating him in front of his wife and kid.

And, also, crap can happen anywhere, not just in the inner city where gangs are hanging out.

For those that don't know, Bellevue is a very wealthy and fancy city. Bellevue Square is an upscale shopping mall. And a couple years ago, there was a random shooting there.
