My 2010 X5 35D has door pockets in the rear doors and a small shelf in the back of the console. I would not call them hidden.

If i put my finger on the radio station buttons (with no pressure, it seems to sense temp) it calls the map of preset stations on the bottom of the idrive screen up for me to see what they are and highlights the one i am starting to touch.

yes, this is great. In case you don't know, you can save radio stations in iDrive and use those buttons for other things like frequent called phone numbers, frequently used nav locations, or toggling any iDrive feature (like day vs night nav modes). touching the button (without pressing) still shows you whatever you have that button programmed to do.

^ what is this day vs night nav mode? Does it change the background color of the map? I haven't come across that in the X but have in a MB.

Yes, this changes the color of the screen. Not sure what you mean by "MB". Night mode makes the screen much darker and makes the scene look like night time (dark sky, darker ground and different colors for the roads); this makes the screen much less harsh (easier on night time eyes). However, one of the settings will prevent the night mode from activating. I think if you have traffic notifications turned on the night mode will not activate (this is one of the BMW things that makes no sense to me).

I live in a very rural area where traffic is not an issue so I leave this feature off. If I go into metro areas, where I might be concerned about traffic, I turn it back on. So I have button #1 programmed to toggle day/night. My Infiniti did this automatically with the automatic headlight sensor. If I were living in a urban area and wanted both night mode and traffic mode, I would use two "radio" buttons - one for toggling day/night and another for toggling traffic on/off (to permit the night mode to activate). Why BMW doesn't have automatic day/night mode activation with the headlight sensor is another BMW nonsensical decision (IMHO).

It's there. If I remember correctly it's under map-settings.
But it might br there then you need to hit the options button.

I can't remember which.

reviving an old thread...

i "discovered" a somewhat cool feature today when i parked the x in a parking garage this afternoon. when you fold down your sun visor, the plastic frame that surrounds the mirror extends to the right beyond the mirror. this is a parking stub/receipt holder. it can be pulled back and then it snaps back into place to securely hold a small amount of paper. in fact, i think there's one on both mirrors (driver and passenger).

not a super cool feature but very handy.

it's actually an extension of the visor for when you rotate it to the left to cover the drivers side window.
