The stock audio config. (the one I had, no extra charge, it was included in the base price) comes with 8 speakers: 4 in the front doors, 2 subs under the seats and 2 in the rear doors. The rear door does not even have a tweeter! I dont count the speakers used for the Nav, they are not part of the music reproduction.

In Europe the Logic7 is sold for about 4000 Euros, I had my system built for half of that and it has been built from audiophile parts, while the Logic7 is hmmm... how to say? It has Philips drivers...:)

Yeah, the installer had to fiddle for a couple of days, mostly to set the "sweet spot" in the car and adjust everything (EQ, time delays, etc.) to get the best sound.

I agree with drod and this is how I put it in my earlier post: if you have a Logic7 system, the speakers seem to be the weakest part, so upgrading them only would improve the sound.
I wonder what sort of drivers BSW using, who is the manufacturer of them - if they reveal, that would tell a lot about the expectable quality.

hi digiteye

I'm not really sure what you were getting at there, my post was just in response to drod - I was basically just offering some info even though I realise the stock radio is probably different from country to country

Hi jimsaq, I have edited my post, maybe better now. I am not arguing with you or such, just quoted from you in order to add more info for those who are interested in audio upgrade.

The point is: if you have a Logic7, it makes sense to replace the drivers, if you have stock, its better to add amp as well.
Having a custom designed audio in the car vs Logic7 could be also considered prior to ordering the car, as there are better sounding options out there for the price.

Let me add the issues with audio upgrade in the E70 as I have experienced:

- lack of available space in general
- tiny OEM drivers - allowing little room for selecting aftermarket drivers
- the door design allows no space for extra speakers
- bass driver location under the seat is pretty unfortunate - they are too far from the tweeters and woofers

I have learned all these from the installer while upgrading my audio.

This is exactly what I did.

Obligatory change it, minimum to code 676. In E70 standart audio is much, much better than in E53 but not good enough. Do it, it is my advise (in my E70 is standart :(, I feel diference because until this my BMW have DSP or Logic7)

I have sign in. May be $ get little bit cheaper until december and I will pay for this kit resonable price. There is standart in my E70 :(.

This is a good start.

Benefit is the existing cutouts for the upgrade as well as the amp which may well suffice.. I have the upgraded system at the moment and find it lacking ...

What is the difference between the standard audo system, the HI-FI system and the Logic7 in the E70 in terms of the nymber of speakers, amp etc.
