Where in this release does it say X5 Diesel will be available for sale in the US in 2008?

All the release says is this: “We start making the diesel before the end of the year,” he said. BMW plans to introduce a diesel X5 sports activity vehicle into the U.S. market soon.

Sounds like my dealer is correct when they say November build, February delivery. Although I hope it sooner than this and the dealer is wrong.

I hope they have the bugs with the emission system figured out before they release the diesel. BMW shouldn't use their customers for r&d.

November is target date, though some or most dealers may have it much before.

Other BMW press releases (Aug 6, 2008) have said it would start production in September with November delivery. When I presented this BMW press release to my dealer they checked with the manufacturer and were told that production starts November with delivery in Feb 2009.

It seems that no one really knows definitively when they will be available at dealers or for sale. From everything I've read and in talking with my dealer, it would seem that maybe the dealer might have one to show before year end but nothing will be available for purchase prior to 2008.

All points well taken, it's kind of a funny debate - which information is more reliable:

Internet Rumour

or

Car Salesman

you be the judge :dunno:

That was before the press release and it was in response to Penguin question on why it will take so long from start of production to availabiulity at dealer/sale. Per the latest release it will start before mid Dec and at dealers by Feb.

Imo, cut the picayune beefing at LM...
He is almost always "right on" with the
real skinny on BMW new model stuff.

He has some remarkable sources...

So what is the current thinking on when we will see the X with the twin turbo six?

From the September issue of Roundel mag as attached below.
We know 2009 model pricing is already announced as posted here.

On another note, per latest rumor the the spring 2009 may bring us some good surprises and perhaps a new 2010 model.
