I think it is time for Admin to do something here.

Indeed.

I'd have whipped out by trusty 'ban-stick' and given you a week or two to consider your continued membership.

What an utterly silly conversation- IMO. Only thing worse that name calling are people with zero technical knowledge giving their "opinion" and 'level of satisfaction' with mods based on virtually nothing...and people citing 'satisfied customers' as some kind of metric. Just like there are thousands of customers that swear by K&N air filters and they are pretty much a scam.

Interesting thread...but some are just kids...

Typo fail on my part. I meant I did not come here!

Typo mistake. I will correct it now

Hi,

I would have preferred a more technical debate and I never would have wished for this thread to escalate into a bitching thread.

If admin wish to delete this thread and re-open it with the OP's first question then feel free and I will never again share my first hand experience on tuning boxes and their cruel way of working as it seams thats what people want.

Aidan

Several post on this thread come from 1st time posters that joined this month, and are very actively defending the BMS JBD....coincidence, I think not. I am not bashing the product by any means, but if someone is worried about longevity and reliability they should stay away from ANY tune not just the JBD. Aiden has provided some good first hand technical knowledge (however generalized you want to say it is). Whether you agree with him or not, unless you have evidence to prove otherwise, take what he has said for what it is…his professional opinion based on experience. I am no expert on tunes and do not claim to be, however the JBD is essentially a variable resistor with an algorithm which does fool the ECU to increase the fuel delivery (as Terry stated himself) to increase the power. Yes it is effective as the 200+ users of it will attest to, but the potential damage to the motor and driveline components is not yet known. If you are okay with taking the gamble, then by all means purchase it and be happy with your decision. I have no doubt you’ll experience increased performance as with all BMS products. Personally I prefer another company for tunes, but they haven’t released a Diesel tune yet and I’m not sure if they plan on it. As far as Kloogy and any of the other users bashing others post without offering any technical information to prove otherwise, you’re wasting everyone’s time on here. Bashing someone else when you have nothing to counter with and provide something the OP can benefit from is a waste of everyone's time following this thread. Grow up a little and stop whining when you aren’t technical educated enough to offer any useful information towards to thread. It’s real easy to sit back and complain about how wrong someone is, especially when you can’t articulate why they are incorrect. Ok I’m off my soapbox now and maybe will leave room for someone much smarter than me to offer something constructive to the OP. No I have to try to do something productive enough at work to feel like I've earned my paycheck today.

BINGO ...

Also JCL enjoyed reading your posts as well.

If its that simple as you claim, I challenge you to build your own and produce the same gains as the ones advertised. Good luck with that!

If there is no alarming amount of JBD boxes causing such issues at default settings - then the whole thread is really pointless and should be locked, nuked or every post beginning at #2 should be erased.

So true!
Just want to put his infinite tuning knowledge to the test. I'll even papal him the $10 to get him started.

JCL 01-24-2011 02:00 AM

Can't you both just drop it? What are you adding here?

I would personally prefer that the thread not be locked, nuked, or whatever. I would invite those who joined this forum just to respond to this thread either to join in broader X5 discussions beyond this one thread, and stay around, or just leave already.

Wow. As someone who just stumbled on this thread, I can safely say the following:
  1. JCL, your self restraint and grace under pressure is amazing.
  2. I have never seen so much petty, juvenile name calling in my life. (Well maybe in the 3rd grade, but not since then).
  3. I used to think mods should never lock / edit a thread. Not so sure any more.
  4. If I could have just $1 for every hour of someone's life WASTED reading this nonsense, I could probably buy myself an X5M and never have to think about a flash or a piggy again.
I am so glad you finally all just burned yourselves out.....
