Any 35D Owners install this performance tune?

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to see if any members who has a 35D tried this performace tune from JB Performance. The Dyno sheet isnt really a proper Dyno sheet and is kind of worthless. They need HP vs Engine RPM and Torque Vs Engine RPM. I'll email them to see if they can provide a better spec sheet.

My advice - do not do it. They are a simple plug in gimmick that fools the ECU in thinking the diesel temperature is lower than what it is and so pumps more diesel in at a certain amount of revs.

They are renowned for causing ECU failures, CEL lights and Limp mode.

If you wish to have a technical debate then I have no problem with that but your comments seem to be a little bit childish and un-educated.

Yes, I removed and binned these "tuning boxes" plenty of times. They fit between the ECU and the fuel delivery pump whether you like it or not. Most of them are fitted at the Diesel temperature sensor.

At a certain amount of revs, just before full boost has been reached, they sure do pump in the extra amount of fuel to give it that little bit more power. Please can somebody post up their dyno chart with having one of these fitted?

So far we have proved that this entire post is WRONG. "They" are NOT "RENOWNED", for any of this.....on ANY forum. Unless you have some secret society that is reporting these things to you, please make an adjustment to your original post.

To generalize tuning boxes then yes they are renowned for it and no i will not adjust my original post. I have seen countless cars billowing black smoke, cel lights popping on, limp mode cutting in, ecu eprom glitches all due to the ECU been fooled.

exactly.. there's a boost target and it's not RPM dependent.

and ECU failures and limp mode??? haha.. there must be quite a few of us who are very lucky!

Hi,

In Ireland, I repair ECU's. By fooling the ECU, which is what tuning boxes do, the ECU's EPROM chip can get glitched. - This is when it fires up CEL lamps and can often go into limp mode.

How do I fix it? Remove tuning box and throw it in the bin. Remove ECU, remove EPROM chip and reflash it with either its original file map or if the customer wanted a tuned file map.

I have been doing this for years in Ireland so I would be pretty shocked to hear that nobody on here has ever had problems with tuning boxes
