I lowered it slowly with the car on.

Should inflate automatically.

I was noticing that on my 2007 E70 (75K) the Passenger Rear side was sagging. When i start the car it comes UP. When park overnight it Sags again.

Dealer wants ~$1800 to replace both Rear air suspensions.
Indy BMW Shop wants ~$1000 to replace both.

So I bought a Pair of Arnolt A-2642 for $317, get it shipped FREE, went to a local Auto shop and they did the Install of both Air suspension for $180. It took them ~90 min to finish the install, They have never done it before but they read the instructions which comes with the Parts. So far see no issues.

Total Out of pocket = $497.

I used this method, since I don't have the programmable cable and software. But the issue is, you can only attach the upper part of the bag, the lower part is not long enough (before get inflated) to get attached. Then what I did is to just leave it there, aim the joint with the hole... attach the rims back, then lower the car and wish the lower joint will be connected eventually after inflation....

Fortunately it did joint together without much damage, but I'm still a bit afraid to do in this way.... :confused:

Has anyone ever noticed that the right side of their X sits about 1cm low on both the front and rear? I've got an 08' X5 with 4.8l and third row with auto level. The inside of the right rear of the vehicle also has a lot of wear to the first two inches of the tread. I'm going in for an alignment on Monday but don't want to waste the money if I need new bags to level me out.

A few days ago I had it on a ramp checking out the awesome alternator bracket oil leak and when I pulled it off I just parked it, came out the next morning and the rear was low, about 10" to the bottom of the hitch (reason I found this thread). I opened the door and the compressor came on and leveled everything out, minus the 1cm on the right rear. So, I checked the front right and it's also about 1cm lower than the left front. Kind of weird, I'm on a level surface in the garage.

Any pointers or ideas, anyone mind measuring their wheel wells to the top of the wheels to see if they've got a disparity? When you open the doors the compressor doesn't come on and the height stays the same, I've been observing this for the past few days after reading this post and I haven't heard the compressor once.

I used a tape on the hitch and it stays at a constant 13.5" to the bottom so I don't think the bags are leaking.

Hi. I noticed the same thing on the left rear of my vehicle once I replaced the air bags. Thought I had maybe done something wrong during fitments but after reading some BMW literature on the suspension where they mention a +- height with allowance of 10mm (1cm) I was satisfied. I've measured the height a few times since and will pay that most often after driving it, including passengers getting in and out of the rear, both left and right seem to be identical in rest height so it's probably just a result of the play in the mechanical linkages between strut, sensor, and chassis that sometimes produce the minor differences (which BMW allow for in).
Hope this helps. My tyres are not old enough for me to notice any uneven wear patterns so can't help you there.
