Picked up the new 40d today. Nice drive, 8sp transmission is much better than the old 6sp. Next time I will get the comfort/ventilated seats. Platinum Grey looks nice in real life, has a tinge of blue in it.

The bum warmer seats are a really nice touch

That's why I steal the X on really cold mornings. Keeps the croissants for breakfast warm in the passenger seat too. :D |

I test drove the 30D and 40D... Had to go with the 40D for the power!
Have just ordered one. Coming in 2 weeks. How's yours doing after a few months bedding-in? Any issues? Quote:

One minor issue - the lane change warning fn failed, switching itself off (and warned me with a message telling me this); system was fine next time I drove the car and never seen this issue again. I thought this was an issue until I spoke to a BWM tech; the engine fans sometimes continue to run (for a short period of time) after the engine is shut off; this is normal and is just the engine cooling down the twin turbos. (Not sure if 30D's do this, as maybe specific to twin turbos.) |

Ideally for Turbo motors, the engine would idle for a minute or so to let the turbine speeds slow down before the pressurised oil feed stops once the engine is shut down. I try to let mine sit idle for a minute before shutting it down. |
Well, after waiting for 3 weeks for the new 40D I did a final inspection on it yesterday (as recommended by some board members), and what do I find??? - a scratch on on LF fender, scratches to the boot-floor handle and scuff marks on the boot lid (gggrrrrr)
Dealer says that they will paint the fender, replace the handle and try and remove the scuff marks - and this is suppose to be a brand new car!!! Is it really a new car after being repaired before delivery? (Not Happy Jan!!!) |
