THe X5 concept has a twin turbo 4cyl diesel with 2 electric motors. I reckon we will have it within 2 years, otherwise I will buy the another brand that has a hybrid.

In 2 years we will be paying over $2.00 a litre for fuel.

What happened was I bought style 239 rims a couple of weeks after I took delivery instead of at the same time, so I didn't have to lump out even more LCT than I already had on the vehicle purchase. I dropped my 3.0sd off to have the wheels changed over and they gave me a 3.0d with 800k's on the clock. For starters I pulled out of the driveway and had to turn the wheel excessively (seemingly) to just make the right-hand turn :)

And then the ride and cornering felt... ordinary to say the least.
It's funny because when I first test-drove some X5's they had neither option but I felt that they had quite a nice drive and were reasonably sporty given the weight and dimensions. Now after driving my own around for a month with adaptive drive and active steering it makes the standard vehicle feel so plain in comparison.

It got me thinking that if I was BMW, I would want all my vehicles to come with those options standard even if it meant a higher ticket price - the improvement in handling and ride is so immense, and I'd want my cars to be known for that.

Big call
Ive heard mixed reports and my dealer has been trying to get me to spec another E70 for myself with both and give this one to my wife - but im going to hang out for the next powered-up version whatever that will be

We may actually catch up to the UK in fuel prices then!!!
Im not too fussed to be honest, as life cycles go, there are always things that are expensive at one time or another.
Fuel prices are going to be high into the future and thats it - budget accordingly.

or....buy a horse
or....buy a Prius

I know < shoot me :gun:

20" wheels for sale?

Hi,
New member here. Just bought a x5 3.od, with standard wheels. Anyone has OEM 20" wheels for sale? Anyone bought replica with the same width as factory wheels (10 and 11 inch)? Thanks

watrob 05-14-2008 08:01 PM

Contact BMW Motorline 0n 07 32907000 ask for Craig Rose as he has about 3 sets of 20" wheels with rubber from X5's that upgraded to 21"
