Yes and I have also tried the last 7 digits - no luck.

I will call the dealer today and speak to the lady in stock control - found her friendly and helpful.

I think the status saying RS means something other than car is finished.

Also did you get an option code called 413 Auto Mirr ?

I have it in my option list but i never picked it and I can't find what it is in the options list i chose from when i placed the order - wonder if the 08 SDs have folding mirrors or anti dazzle ext mirrors as standard...

I think it relates to anti-dazzle mirror. I believe it is a standard option.

I had to pay for external mirrors to be anti-dazzle

It's in regards to your interior mirror, its anti dassle to stop the headlight of cars behind you so they do not shine in your eyes.

Ok i found out the whole story now...

Rang the dealer and the young lady in stock control said

1. I have a VIN # but no engine number. This is because the car is not finished production but is scheduled for production.
2. The production schedule is for Week 3 of Jan. On the print out that I got it says Prod Week : 3/1/08 which means 3rd week. I misread it as saying 3rd of Jan 08 and therefore 1st week production.
3. Typically it takes 1 week to build the car and another week to get it onto the ship.

If there is a ship leaving on the 20 Jan 08, then its most unlikely that mine will be on that one given that its build is only supposed to start on the week begining the 14 Jan 08.

4. You cannot track the actual production of the car on line. The only way to do see where things are at is to ask the dealer to check on the status.

5. The only tracking you can do by yourself is the shipping.

SO.....the waiting game continues....

One thing I noticed on my options list other than the mysterious 413 Auto Mirr thingy is that it lists the YSpoke 214 wheels. I know I ticked the 211 wheels because that's whats on the Offer to Purchase Invoice.

For now I will just wait and see what I get because,

If the 214's are on the car then thats great because I was leaning towards changing that option anyway but couldn't.

If the 211's arrive on the car then I'll live with it because thats what I ordered.

Hi Aussies from a Melbourne based anzer:)

I posted this under the SD link ..repeating here as someone is Aus may have a perspective to help me ...

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I'm looking at placing an order through BMW Melbourne soon for an SD..I'm waiting to test drive hopefully this month when one lands. Thought about V8 as you get alot of extra fruit with the V8 (e.g. comfort seats, self level suspension etc) but I reckon a few mods will make the SD just as quick and overall a better daily commuter drive (with better economy but dont care so much about that)

Lets face it 95% of the time we're crawling around city / urban streets somewhere between 50 and 70 km/hr - so diesel is going to be a better bet from rolling acceleration perspective ....

anyway ..just interested in your thoughts on Aussie tuners who use the UK based chips ...I saw the post here on TUNIT.

What about these guys?
http://www.dpchip.com.au -they seem to have a unit also for the X5

Did any of you guys have a standard 3.0d tuned ? by why? did it make a noticable differenece? did anyone dyno to prove it? any good melbourne based tuners you could recommend?

I'm really keen to juice mine up a bit because in Aus they are detuned to cater for hot weather running and I suspect diesel quality not always as good as overseas. I reckon if the TUNIT dyno's are for real then the SD should be pushing around 235kw and something like 620Nm - and this should give it the same 0-100km/h as the V8 I suspect - if not a little faster .... thoughts?

Also - did you guys get an corporate discounting on the SD retail price? I'm keen to get a good deal as the options list is expensive so I want to get a good deal to help pay for things that should be standard (like Sunroof) ....;)

I've got a dpchip in my 3.0 patrol, it's good
that's about all the info I can offer

off the track a bit, speaking of my patrol - what a crazy contrast between the 3.0 turbo diesel in my patrol compared to the 3.0sd eh

Hi Anzer,

I have owned a e70 diesel and have driven and have on order a e70 SD.

The SD flys, the difference in power between the V8 & SD is not worth talking about in a 2 1/2 ton SUV as the diesel has so much torque.

The SD comes with bigger brakes (the same ones as on the V8)

I have and like the adaptive suspension but I would get as a minium sports suspension, as it's no good going fast if it does not respond well.

Also these diesel take a good 15000klm to run in, so they get better with age.

Yes I would chip the normal diesel but there is no need to chip the SD.

Futher. the v8 gets around 19ltr per 100klm around town and worse if you lead foot it. The diesel does around 11ltr.

Also the resale value, in a few more years people are not going to buy V8 petrol SUV's, not when you can get a diesel that performs better all round.

Last, in Qld V8's are dearer to register than 6 cylinders.

That my $0.02 worth.

Robert
