Hi,

BMW Motorline in Daisy Hill, Brisbane has one, drove it about 2 weeks ago, I know the dealer, gave me the keys to take it for a drive.

It did not have 19" wheels only 18", so it handling was a little soft.

Also, no lag off the lights with the twin turbo either. My e70 diesel as it got to around 3500klm the lag slowing started to get worse off the lights, it was always there but it seemed as more klms got put on the X5 and more the motor freed up so did the lag increase.

Thanks everyone for feedback on the SD. I spent some time on the BMW Aus website configurator last night ...when I optioned up it comes to something like $123k AUD :( excl rip off stamp duty and dealer delivery etc ..... anyway .. I included adaptive drive - it looks awesome in terms of balancing sport and comfort - anyone else ordering it for SD (or has it now for the 3.0d) is it worth the $8700 AUD?? sounds like just adding sport sus and 19" might make the ride a bit jiggly here and there ..had this experience with a 3 series early on ....dont want to repeat that experience .. also ..I couldnt see the auto tailgate option in the configurator ! what cost is it (now that they are including this as a build option in the US) - thanks again for any info ...

ended up going over to the same dealership I placed my own sd order with even though it's further away - took a 3.0sd for a drive

very happy indeed with the twin turbo diesel
quite punchy, especially from second gear and sounds quite good

I've added it to mine, but haven't driven a vehicle with it yet (don't get mine until march)
I'm expecting it to be really nice in curves and around corners

My dealer says they wont get their demo until Feb which by that time mine should be on a ship coming here.

It sounds like the SD is worth it especially is there is no lag on takeoff and its even more punchy in gear.

i throw my current 3.0d around and that has the lowered Eibach springs which make handling heaps better then when I first took delivery.

I will be looking to do the same with the E70 when performance springs are available at the dealership.

My current X5 E70 diesel or was my current, if you read my signature below had Adaptive Drive. My new X5 Sports SD will have it also.

You will not drive a new X5 again once you have had this version of the Adaptive Drive, its just that good. Once you drive it with Adaptive Drive all the other X5 are just that, others.

PS. Make sure you get the 20' wheels. it's no use putting a F1 suspension in a X5 and driving it hard on bicycle wheels.

Replacing std lights with HID/Xenon

Having just sold my 2004 E53 4.4 Sports Pack I have ordered a new SD as follows;

Alpine White
Black Nevada with Aluminium trim
Sports pack
20 inch wheels
Comfort Seats
Panorama Roof
Running boards
Hi Fi Upgrade
USB
Anti Dazzle/Folding Mirrors

My previous two BMW's had xenon headlights (4.4 X5 and 330ci) as standard however they are not standard on the SD but rather an option for $2,100 - what a rip off! Has anyone replaced the low beam lights with aftermarket HID/Xenon bulbs - is it any easy job?

Hey guys (was sure I had an account here previously... Wierd). Anyway, i've been doing a heap of searching trying to find some newer info, but all I could find was this page;

http://www.xoutpost.com/bluetoothphones.php

Is this really the absolute latest list of supported phones for X5's? We've got a 2007 model I believe and have been using a Motorola RAZR V3 for some time without any problems, but this phone has started to completely die (it's been through a lot). It's an insured phone and we can get it replaced free of charge, but due to some ridiculous procedures we'd be without it for 10 days, which would be completely unacceptable (real estate business). Our easiest option is to simply buy a newer, better phone, transfer everything over to that, and then send the old one off to be replaced.

But looking at that list, I see nothing newer supported from Motorola, and we'd really prefer to get a new phone this time. Any ideas? I would've thought they'd support more phones as they become available, or is that wrong?

Thanks for any help!

*edit* I might give the local dealership where we bought it from a call, what do you guys think the chances of a RAZR2 V8 functioning with this car?
