let it sit, the use the sponge that came with the 500ml bottle and use some water to agitate the gel and the dirt off. then rinse.

Phil, quick question about odor control, what do you think about ozone generators to kill odors/bacteria in vehicles. I've seen some places advertise it but not sure effectiveness. What do you guys use on interiors that may have smoke or other odors?

Detailing maintenance

Phil,

I admire your work ethic and the results you get. Forgive me if these questions may have been asked before....

Admitting that there are many variables, environment, garaged or not, owner's care ethic etc, but what time interval would you recommend as an optimum to keep the paint surface as fresh looking and resistant to deterioration as reasonably possible, 6 months, one year?

Assuming an X5 that is owned by a caring person (read they don't let it go to hell, wash it and wax it etc. what is the average cost for your services?

How long do you need the car for?

Thank you

Thanks!

We have done X5's and X6's new car prep for $300 and as high as $950.

We have also done a few cars for over $3,000.

Figure $65 per man hour is what we charge.

SNOW and ICE Advice

Hey Phil: would you mind posting your thoughts on how to deal with the snow and ice. Wash DC and surrounding areas just got 2 feet of snow. Here are a couple questions I have for your expert opinion.

1. What do you suggest in terms of removing snow/ice from an X5 parked outdoors. Would it be best to simply clean the windows and let the rest of the car melt rather than using a brush on the paint? Safety requires that some snow be removed but I am interested in hearing your thoughts on what happens to the paint when you remove the snow/ice.

2. What about road spray covering the X5 in salt/chemicals? Should this be sprayed off with a pressure washer ASAP? Can one wait a day or two? If one uses a commercial car wash to spray the X, should one use just hot water or can you use their soap? In other words, will the car wash soap strip any protection we have on our X's?

As always, thanks for your advice and posting.

well safety does come first...we get tickets here for that. as long as you brush most of it off you should be ok.

I've been using ONR or going to the no touch laser guided car washes (it does the undercarriage as well)

Hope that helps.

I have what may seem like a silly question, but here it goes:

Is there any product that I can apply to leatherette surfaces to make them at least remotely smell like leather? I vaguely remember hearing something about some Zaino cleaning solution. Thanks in advance!
