Exclamation DTM rims corrosion problems

I bought my rims last yr around june, as the first winter just passed I found out that my 22inch polish lips suffers salt corrosion. Therefore, I don't know what to do with it, I've heard to use toothpaste, but it didnt work. I've also tried sanding it down with fine sand paper, but apparently it almost ruin my coatings on the polish lips. Could someone plz suggest me some useful advises ?Thank you very much.

you used toothpaste?
Go to your local automotive store and buy a powerball (or use some elbow grease), get some polish and polish the wheels.
Or get them professionally polished.

For a trial run, prods. like Simichrome, Mother's Metal Polish, NeverDull,
et al, a lot of elbow grease and wipe it clean. It may make the overall
"look" of the your wheel, appear cleaner and slightly better.

Using a powerball will aid in the trial run...

As for some of the buttugly corrosion and the sandpaper abrasion,
I'm with the gang on getting them polished and re-clear coated by
a wheel specialist, esp. if my suggested trial run does not give
you the results you desire.

Fineazz wheels and winter weather are diametrically opposed...

Thanks for the feedback, i will get it done asap.
I will keep you guys update, apparently my frd's M3 with rims from 'Works' 19inch polish lip also had the same corrosion problem after the winter. So its really not the quality of the wheel, I thinks its just polish lips' weakness.

YMMV, but it looks like your wheels have had a chemical reaction with the salt.....

The only recouse if metal polishing is not cutting it, is to test a spot with wetsand and see how much you need to *cut* into before the corrision stops. From there, polish till it's acceptable to you, put a coat of wax/sealant on the wheels......and don't drive the wheels in the winter ;-)
