That's the X5 M. Don't you see the license plate? It sort of looks like a Z4 but I think the dead give-away is that front license plate, BMW would not have been so careless as to stick the wrong plate on the wrong car.

3. Why no running boards?
4. Good idea to launch in Singapore as opposed to the NY Auto Show like the X6 M, since the car is made in Singapore and that is its largest market.
5. I see in one of the photos that they are also launching the Z8. Wow, I wonder how far back they are when it comes to the fashion scene over there?
6. Car isn't all roped off like in New York; guess they trust people outside of the USA more that they won't get in and just drive off, or at least steal one of the exterior rear view mirrors.
7. I noticed on this one and from the original launch photos, wheels have rubber valve stems and not metal ones like all the other BMW's now. Does that mean it doesn't have run flats?
8. At least this one has roof rails, though they are funky looking don't you think? (They look like two solid bars)
9. This can't be the only X5 M made so far since some of the press photos had one with roof rails and others without rails. Does that mean this thing only comes in neon blue?
10. Before I thought the wheel size looked right for the car, now they look too small.
1) I thought Lemans published pictures from all over.
2) Yes, but don't all E70s have large mirrors?
3) Since there is no gun rack option, and no 8000 pound electric Warn winch, running boards were deleted in keeping with the non-pickup truck styling theme.
4) ???
5) I enjoy the heritage displays at shows. My dealer keeps a Z8 in the showroom. Great contrast with the recent models, and builds traffic. I want a Z8. Too bad they are still too pricy.
6) n/c
7) How can you tell they are rubber? Seems to me they would be using run flats, but perhaps not. Maybe Shanghai doesn't have the same requirements as the US re pressure monitoring for runflats.
8) Yes, they look useless. Presumably real roof rails could be changed in.
9) Estoril. Nice colour. Didn't you like the ugly brown one?
10) IMO the wheels look good, but the wheel arches are too large. Just doesn't look like a wheel problem, moreso the extended arch.

If they could just figure out how to make it lighter, I would consider it for my next vehicle. As it is, it is too heavy and somewhat too large. Great performance specs though.

Interesting comments to my already "excellent" points. A follow-up is of course needed:

1. He is a mystery that one.
2. Yeah, they just look big to me in that photo.
3. Ok, but they still offer a towing hitch option!
4. ???
5. Agree, though letting a Z8 just sit around should constitute a crime against humanity.
6. n/c
7. The metal ones are silver and they don't have black metal ones, see also this photo from the launch. Look at the 2 attached photos from the launch X5 vs. X6.
8. Agree
9. What ugly brown one?
10. You might be right on that, it just might be that the arches are the problem and not the wheels.

The ugly brown color you are referring to is Sepang. One of the worst ///M colors to date. Debuted on the Z4 M Coupe and ended there too.

BUT, it could have just been the ugly Z4 that killed it. I think Sepang might work well on a bigger bodied car. One that has a more mature stance to it. Its like a cross between brown and space gray metallic.

I was referring to the Imola Brown pictures. Several of the M photos were poorly processed, and those Imola pictures came out brown. Yes, I know they were supposed to be red. They just weren't. I would actually go with the silver/gray colour that BMW released.

Meister doesn't get out much.

Some would suggest that China is a fairly significant market for BMW.
