Just came back from the dealer. The shop foreman drove it and determined that he's going to order the belt tensioner and belts as mentioned in a previous post.

He commented that it was the same sound that was coming from an X6 50i. They replaced these parts and the problem went away. Part should be in next week. We shall see..

A belt tensioner sounds a lot more simple of a repair than the oil pump replacement. My dealer received the oil pump a couple days ago and my SA told me the new one was in yesterday. They have had my car over a week and half. There's a couple more things they need to fix before I get it back.

Does anyone know how involved replacing the oil pump is? I sure hope they didn't have to remove the entire engine or something.

I have absolutely no damage on the parts that were replaced, it helped initially, but the sound is back - of different intensity now compared to before. Not sure what to recommend, Iluxa.......

Cheers,

Really sorry to hear that. I wonder if it is indeed the oil pump as was discussed before. That seems to be the course of action some new 7 series owners are going with, with the same or similar sound in their cars.
