Whirring whine Sound - Page 3

Im still waiting to hear back from my foreman but don't expect to get many answers. It doesn't seem to be affecting performance but it sure is annoying.

Perhaps it has something to do with the contracting and expansion of the belts from heat/friction? Hopefully we'll find out soon enough.

heh In have this exact issue, it reminds me of diff or transmission whine, but sometimes you can tell it doesn't seem to be strictly related to the rpm of the wheels/drivetrain - it seems more tied to engine rpm

I never heard it until after a long highway trip, now it annoys the heck out of me - people think I have an electric motor whirring away under there or something

I see you're from Brisbane. Do you happen to know that Jack family? They are heavily into building race motors and pretty well known from what I understand. . I'm good friends with one of the brothers here in the US. GDay!

Mine is there all the time. Cold, hot, after hard driving etc. I dropped my car off at the dealer this morning and took a drive with the foreman. He thinks it's the oil pump and is ordering one for it.

I'm VERY curious if that fixes the problem. My dealer also said to bring it down to allow the foreman to go for a drive with me. Keep us posted..

I just discovered mine has the same whine but only at low speed and when the engine is warm. Honestly, I don't think any of these foremans know what they are talking about and am affraid dropping the car in dealers hand. They may just change things randomly and screw it even more. For now I will wait

same thing i was thinking but its going in, i cant stand the sound.

the same problem here, dealer has no clue what to do.
i think it is either an oil pump or some belt.
looking forward to someone finding the solution

Hi again,

I had the following parts replaced, although there was no visible damage, the noise has gone.

11-28-7-549-873 belt tensioner X1
11-28-7-565-361 ribbed v-belt X1
11-28-7-570-266 ribbed v-belt X1
