One reason I think ED is cheaper is maybe cuz of the different tax BMW pays to ship a new car versus a used one. After all, an ED vehicle is technically "used" becuase you have already driven it a few hundred or a few thousand miles.

Shipping over to the US, shipping insurnace, customs fees and more are all covered, as is driver's insurance for 14 days in Europe. So basically, you just need to pay for your airline ticket and your trip.

No...remember that you buy the car here as a new car. I think the reason BMW makes it cheaper is strictly for PR. IMHO ED is the #1 most effective customer loyalty tool in existence. Once you take advantage of this program you are unlikely to buy another brand. Personally when I am in the market for a new car I wont even consider one that does not offer some form of ED!

The other reason why BMW does it is to offset the fact that you are paying for a car that you do not have possession of for approximately 2-3 months (2 weeks prior to delivery and about 6-8 weeks waiting for shipping to the US).

To the OP - if you are considering ED please note that Lufthansa has a special offer for BMW customers of 2 for 1 in coach or 75% off a companion ticket in business class (until 12/31/07).

You should also include that if you are a BMWCCA for a year you get a $500.00 rebate on the the X3 and the 3,$1000.00 on the 5 and I believe its $1500.00 on the 7.

well, since I started this thread, I just wanna let y'all know that I have decided to do Euro Delivery, and I am leaving today for Munich to pick up my 328xit, I saved about $5000 off of msrp, which translates to about $3000-$3500 of real savings considering no one pays msrp, and that will more than pay for my two week trip to europe since I will be staying in Sweden 8 of those days with relatives! I have loved my X3 for the last 2 years, and like I said in another thread, it will be posted here for sale when I return

could us europeans buy from america bmw dealer say a z4 or x5 then and ship back our self to europe a new x5 with extras is about £45k + for 3.0d sport with nav and leather any ideas of prices etc for rhd,i bet bmw uk wouldnt be interested in and warrenty claims etc

I imagine that would be more difficult than it would be worth. First you would not be able to get a rhd vehicle here. Second I doubt that a US version would meet UK/EU requirements. You would probably have to modify the vehicle yourself which might well cost a fortune.

Since I have no idea what would be involved maybe you could call BMW UK tourist delivery (or, if no such thing, BMW USA Tourist Delivery) and ask...
