X looks great amazing how just a cut and polish looks I like the gloss black grilles better than OE but not feeling the m6 style grille I think black oe grilles would be better in my opinion

I hear you. I'm not 100% sold on keeping them on. Looks better in person though. I'm going to see if I can get the factory ones powder coated or something because painting them never comes out great. Had that on my last X5...

Thanks, I can't wait to see the whole car paint corrected and OptiCoated. I knew the grilles were going to be a hit or miss when I bought them... but they are the only gloss black option out there unfortunately.

- Replaced a broken door courtesy door lamp lens that I noticed when replacing the interior bulbs for LED versions. (63316963194) $11.16

November 15, 2015

- Repaired the reverse dip function on the passenger mirror thanks to the excellent writeup here. Works like a charm every time now.

- Repaired the power folding mirror on the passenger side. Opened it up and saw that the microswitch arm had been badly mangled and was jamming the works. Repaired it and put it back together... works great. Also thanks to an excellent writeup here.

- Installed some new button caps on the HVAC panel. Wife was doing some vacuuming and took a couple of the old caps off. Checked the bag and the impellar destroyed them. Bought new cap set and installed caps with a couple of dabs of silicon gasket maker... they'll never come off again. (64116915812) $121.60

Hey Crystal - how many (if any) buttons do you have left? Funny enough I read this thread yesterday and vaccuumed my X yesterday, the "Auto" button had a dead bottom tab, and got sucked up - Do you have one from your set or was it used? I'll gladly pay you a few bucks for it, cheapest I can get a new one is the IHKAbuttons.com guy but its $20 for just 1 -

You can buy a whole set online for ~$65. I bought mine at the dealer and my parts guy wasn't there so I had to pay full list. I needed them that day or I would have simply ordered them. I was loaning the X to a doctor buddy (same reason the wife was vacuuming, I fixed the folding mirrors, and dip function) as he was loaning me his Escalade for a trip that I needed a 7 seater for.

I think I am going to keep what I have left over for spares, and my brother in law needs one or two for the 4.4i I sold him.

- Fixed a warped plastic trim that goes all the way around the window. The one with the tweeter pod integrated. PO's BSW installer must have tried to remove it incorrectly and bent it decently. Wouldn't have bothered most, but my OCD noticed it on a regular basis. Some heating with the heat gun and bending in the opposite direction I was able to get it back to 98% original shape... which is enough to not set off the OCD now. $0.00

- Replaced a broken window regulator clip and both window clips on the driver's side window with a complete kit from Ebay. Of course it failed on a road trip. Luckily I am used to BMW window failures and I was able to get the window to go back up after a quick trip to the local Autozone and 20 minutes in the parking lot. As a side bonus to this endeavor, I discovered that the DSP speakers/tweeters had been replaced with these... which explains why I have liked the way this truck sounds more than my 4.4i and other BMW's I've had of this same vintage.

^Jelly - The BSW's are good speakers - I should have jumped on them a couple years ago when funds allowed, I don't even think they make them currently for E53 with DSP
