Jopecasa--- If you have a 4.6is, this is what's holding you back.
Yes there is some restricting going on there. On my E39M5 I installed a set of the Evolve headers and man what a difference in power and breathing for the engine.

No, I haven't dyno'd since TerraPhantm and DUDMD's 4.6 flash. I KNOW! I've been busy.

I have every intention on getting it done but I haven't had a chance to run to the shop. I've honestly been busy almost every day since the last time I saw DUDMD.

By now I've got about 3k miles on the 4.6 and there was a camshaft position sensor code on bank 2 that came up but after clearing it, it hasn't returned.

I do have a sound that resembles a timing chain "slap" between shifts of the automatic from say 2nd-3rd and again to 4th when I'm pushing the engine hard (into redline) I'm not really sure what up with that. It's really short in duration and not loud but it's there and so I'm looking into what it could be.

This weekend I had the good fortune to be side-by-side with an '88-89 testarossa at a metered on ramp to i-5. The light went green and he took off but with a little black smoke bellowing out his exhaust. I figured this was my sign. I goosed it and by the time I hit 70,he was behind me by a few car lengths. His passenger and him took the HOV lane and as they passed I got 2 thumbs up. We exchanged overtakes for a few miles but I got hung up in Seattle traffic a bit further south and they passed me up and went about their drive.

I was still mentally grinning when in my 15mph commute I sided up to 4 guys in an e63 amg. I wasn't in the mood to get stomped so I went easy on their right as I passed. They had an opportunity to pass me a few moments later and gave me an exhaust bump. It sounded nice and so I burped mine the next time I went by.

They were along side and 4 thumbs went up before a clearing allowed them to open the throttle and get some distance between us. As they caught up, all windows were down and they had the camera phones out and were motioning me to make a run so I obliged and did a quick rip to about 110. As they passed again we all waved at each other and went our seperate routes. It was a good day in traffic.

Just letting you know that the car hasn't blown up and I'm still loving the engine.

When I get 2 days off in a row I promise to dyno and then I'll be ready for some new pipes to be installed.

I'd give you four thumbs up as well if that were possible. Keep the updates coming.

I have never heard equal length headers that didn't sound better than stock exhaust manifolds. However, I have also never seen where headers change the HP/TQ significantly. Very interested in dyno sheets. Don't recall, l do you have a baseline run with everything the same other than headers?

I will be doing another baseline dyno as soon as the headers arrive which will be a stock 4.6 engine with the TerraPhantm/DUDMD tuned DME. I thought I included the dyno sheets the builder had for an s62 engine w/dinan headers and exhaust versus his headers and exhaust. Just in pipes alone there was a 26hp jump over the Dinan setup.

Yes, an m62 vs an s62, there will be different results but anything has to be better than the stock manifold and with the results he posted I don't think the 4.6 will suffer at all from the addition of these headers and a free flowing exhaust.

On a 4.6L Mustang GT I gained quite a bit by going long tube equal length headers. I can't remember exactly how much as it was so long ago... but I remember it was over 30rwhp.

I would not be surprised to see gains... but if the S62 got 26hp, I'd be expecting 15-20hp out of the M62.

To be fair, the 26hp gain was OVER a Dinan headers/exhaust system. So over a stock s62, you could be looking at 50+hp just from bolting them on and with a good tune, even more.

Now on a stock 4.6, I'm thinking 40+hp after a good tune. 30 would be fine too but I expect better than that.

True, forgot that dyno was over Dinan.

At any rate, I am interested to see what such a ludicrously expensive (I understand the asking price, just could never personally justify it) set of headers does to the M62b46. With tune, I still think it will be closer to the 20-30whp range over stock. Still very interested though. I'd be excited if in your shoes.
