Coincidentally the exact same thing just happened to me (weird timing...), I even looked up make sure that ALL x5 are supposed to have the "permanently engaged four wheel drive".
I too am surprised: shouldn't a limited slip prevent that? Any suggestions? |

I don't think we have limited slip, we have open differentials, the ABS breaking is supposed to prevent wheel spin. I know newer X5's have an even more sophisticated system.

what is awd or 4wd worth if you loose power to 3 wheels when 1 spins. . .

Right! It's embarrassing. That wouldn't have happened with my Jeep Grand Cherokee.

we did get more from BMW engineers... with the Xdrive system.
