Let see OP purchase a 13 year old X with problems, so he probably didn't paid a whole lot for it, people on this forum as well as on another forum advised him to take it in to get it scan, but he rather throw parts at it and buying an aux fan for $120.00 bucks tells me that he buying the cheapest no name parts for it. If you can't get a profile from that than I guess you haven't been around.

I been on several Marque car forums and I see this type of owners many times. Buy a marque car because it is cheap such as a Lotus, or Porsche, or BMW, but don't know anything about fixing it and buys the cheapest or some McGuyver parts to keep it running. Later he'll probably flip the car to an unsuspecting buyer.

As Bruce Andersen would advise Porsche enthusiasts, buy the "Best" PORSCHE that you can afford, not the "Cheapest" PORSCHE.

Nice proverb. I don't want to judge whether it applies here.

On a completely different topic, the link in this post from the aforementioned Bimmerfest thread:
Bimmerfest - BMW Forums - View Single Post - AC no working I added refrigerant, what next?

is very interesting. It has a link to a PDF of an 88-page general theory document on Automotive AC systems. 10MB download, then 52MB more from adobe if you want the special fonts to show. Worth it to me. It explains in pretty good detail how AC systems work - including the Variable stroke Harrison V5 compressor (referred to earlier in this thread by me as a "variable who knows what compressor").

Hey can I politely ask you to stop stalking me in internet ? I have been holding myself not to respond to you here is my only message I have for you.

If I wanted to have it fixed by a mechanic, I would not come to a car forum.
my ultimate goal is to learn and diagnosis cars. I find a big joy in learning things. I dont even care if I mess up the car, I dont really need that car. I have it only for joy of doing things on it.

I already learnt a lot through the documents and booklets that was posted in other forum, it is all enjoyable experience for me to read and learn why something works and why something doesnt work.

so if you have nothing better than "go to a mechanic" to post on a car forum, maybe should not keep posting the same message and judging people why they replaced their parts themselves. and stop posting youtube links that other people already posted in the other forum. you are not giving out any new valuable information. so please stop!

Well said and good for you! It is not an easy decision for new forum members to defend themselves as one doesn't know who's who and what is appropriate. Your response is very appropriate and you have a good sense of who's who. Hopefully it will make a difference when future new members ask for help.

How am I insulting him? If you read any of my replies to his questions I always provided him with an answers on this forum as well as Bimmerfest.com. Other people had questioned his ability on this forum as well as the other forum. Perhaps because I know more about an AC system then most DIYer, I can tell when a person is posting B.S.
