Drivers front control arm? Only the drivers?

Do them both...

I will do that myself. It failed inspection for the driver side arms only. It's not that convenient for us to keep dropping it off so I definitely wanted them to do enough to pass it. And I definitely didn't want to do the guides or timing cover gaskets myself right now so close to Christmas. Too much going on.

I hear ya... same here.

I just did both of mine - bushes only (Meyle HD) and its not to hard or very expensive to DIY.... although I had to use a shop to do the bush press part, no press at home.

I always like to do the whole arms. And then you know the ball joints will be fresh too. I have a nice ball joint separator. Not a fan of the forks. Although the tool I have is quite scary when it pops. I usually use an impact with some heavy duty gloves and look away

The front arms don't include the ball joint - it's a separate part (unlike the
rear arms on the front, which include the ball joint).

And yeah, the proper BJ separator is a scary tool - I have/use one - sounds like a rifle shot when the taper let's go!

Really? I thought you could get Lemforder with the bushing already installed. But just going from my past E39's. I hadn't looked yet. I just told the indy to do Lemforder arms instead of just the bushing for the driver side since it didn't add much to the cost. If that is the case, my best friend has a press at his place. I really should get one too.

You CAN get the front control (torque) arm with the inner bushing in place already - it's the ball joint on the outer end that is separate. The ball joint bolts on to the end of the arm.

BMW makes a thrust arm busing that carries their special service/ballistic bushing for the X5s and executive E38's.Perfect for third world county roads and highways. Its a much more durable bushing than the original rubber bushing. ECS tuning has it for purchase. I installed these on my X5 when I rebuilt the front suspension of my X5. No regrets.

Guides, chains, tensioners and all gaskets all done. No more leaks or noises. The whirring noise at startup is the starter but I will swap that later myself. Also, the headlights turn off and on really fast some times. One after another. Then the driver side goes out. Figured maybe ballast or igniter but why would they both act crazy? LCM/LKM?
