Been talking to this guy. Spanish speaker only. Trying to get the VIN # may be willing to do 5500. Opinions? Its a 3hr drive to him
Tread carefully..I have no trust in craigslist scammers...that one looks like it has some stories

Since its Cali I assume those arent snows on there and those are freaking hideous...thats over $2000 there for appropriate wheels and tires.

It could be worth buying and restoring it back to what it was.

I wouldn't make a 3 hour drive without having full disclosure of what this vehicle needs. With the miles and missing of correct components its going to need some work $$$$$. In addition you can always get a good feel if someone has taken care of something. In this case look at the fact that the interior is filthy and the owner felt that it was good enough to post for sale. Obviously poorly cared for. I just dont understand when trying to sell what you have why not put your best foot forward: Clean the vehicle inside and out before taking pictures to post for sale. Furthermore this X5 is not what you were really looking for . You originally mentioned that you want 4.6is. Your better off going for what you really want. Take your time and be prepared to pay for what you are looking for and accept minimal compromises (for example colors).

Very true to all of the above...

But I'm of the other mindset. I like buying vehicles that are dirty and fugly. It means the owner just wants out and you can get a steal. Bought many $300-$600 E36's this way and made plenty off them or restoring them and selling for $3000-$4000.

Now my method only applies if you have time, space, money, and knowledge to work on the car. I'd offer him $4000 cash in person and see if he takes it. Too bad it's not running in that dash shot so you could see if you are dealing with a Christmas tree's worth of problems or not.

What do you mean run the vin#? Are you talking about vin decoder for features? if so you can do this yourself with any number of BMW vin decoders. If you mean a car fax then you may need to just pony up some $ and pay for one to see the vehicles history. With 150K there will be quite a few interesting things that show up for you. Have fun.

Okay I know you are looking for a different color but its obvious that this person with this 4.6is has administered some care with this car. If you are looking at something for yourself this is the kind of condition that you want to search for.

You can go to my car fax.com register and run service history for free. It won't show number of owners but will give you service history.

Yes I would agree with in terms of eventually turning them over and making a profit. Well Done. i was taking the search of the vehicle from the perspective that he wanted a good condition X5 for himself. I do remember that when you found your X5 4.8is Imola it wasn't exactly filthy and neglected. And from where you have taken it from where it has come from. Well thats just impressive.
