I second the suggetions to lift up the carpet / sponge! and let them dry out thoroughly, I might also spray down some mold inhibitor etc too.
any connections that might have gotten wet, pull apart and spray with some contact cleaner etc to prevent corrosion.
Good luck!

Lowering humidity is the only thorough route. Humidifier is great. I would run it for 2-3 days when you aren't using your X. Heat can help but heat and water increase humidity so it will take longer to be effective. Running the air conditioner does lower the humidity. Set it on max cooling so it doesn't draw in outside air. How long it will take depends on how much water got in so you will need to be able to check the humidity when it is closed up and hasn't been running for several hours. Get it dry ASAP. Once mold starts it is a much bigger problem.

Boat dehumidifiers work well for drying things out too:

https://www.wholesalemarine.com/davi...FcS4wAod534PQg

I like them because they don't get blazingly hot.

Update Tuesday Morning

For anyone that cares.... here is a quick update.

Soooooo this morning I re-assembled the overhead may light console, ALOT more involve than I thought as one of the inserts fell out and I had hard time figuring out that jigsaw puzzle, happy to report all the light work and are in good working order.

The moon roof, didnt work.... I looked it up and found a video from a dealer to be able to "re-initialize" the moon roof and WHAMMO it worked!

My stability control light came on for a bit..... drove around a bit and it turned off.

Radio back light is still one after I turn the X5 off but hopefully that will sort out.

Right now everything is back in working order.

I shop vac'd the hell out of the carpets and it is only damp the the touch right now.

I also ran to Home Depot and rented these cool little tazmanian devil fans that pack a wallup..... I'm running those for the next 12 hrs.

I'm confident the disaster has been sorted.

Fingers crossed fellas.

Breathing again in Socal.

Clarification

Just to clarify..... i forget which one of our members had pointed out that "I SAID IT RAINED A LOT LAST NIGHT"

I did.

I realized that "perception" is the operative word here. I live in Socal...... we got 2 weeks of rain over the last 5 years so to us a lot of rain is very different than someone from lets say.... Seattle.

When I said a lot of rain he assumed there was 2-3 inches of rain INSIDE the cab..... "A LOT" of rain.......

That was not the case at all........ I understand the miscommunication and I apologize. It did rain a lot but it was more of a sprinkle over several hours not a Typhoon. To us.... that was A LOT of rain (see above)

That's not to say the carpet barely got wet, they did get wet but there was no standing water just wet to the touch.

This is why I am taking a chance in not pulling out the seats and removing the carpets...... I'm hoping i can get the inside dried the way I'm doing it.

Fingers crossed.

Good news! I think you probably would have still been okay with two or three inches! It would have been more work to get it sorted... I think the recommendation for the dehumidifier is a good insurance policy here... I don't know how much they cost, but pulling the moisture out will give you peace of mind there is nothing left to pose problems later, like my corroded LCM module connector...

Either way, I think you know better than us what is really the best route given you're there with the vehicle! Really glad 99% is back to normal... if you wanna pull the radio and just hit it with mild compressed air, it might help with that light... and contact cleaner on the connections...

Cheers!

I hear you on the rain, I work and flew into the rain in OC yesterday! Too bad I am just seeing this as I am departing SoCal out of LA otherwise I would have stopped by to lend a hand. It is imperative to remove the electronic modules in the well below the spare tire. Since it appears that you have nav equipped vehicle, the radio module is in there, PDC if equipped, Sirius module if equipped, tow module if equipped and air suspension if equipped. You MUST get all of the water out, remove power from any submerged module and dry them out ASAP. During the flooding rains that we had in CO a few years ago, my car was outside at my office and I was victim to shrunken sunroof drains which flooded the electronics wells. I was able to remove, disassemble, thoroughly dry and save all modules with the exception of my Bluetooth ULF which I had to replace. It depends upon how much water in fact came in, check for sunroof drain issues (clogged or shrunken/disconnected) as well and check the wells behind the side panels in the rear as the radio amp may have been partially submerged; mine was.

To steal a quote from Game of Thrones - "You know nothing, John Snow!" I live in London, England. It must be the world capital for sodding RAIN! It is always raining or about to rain. And every type of rain you can think of..... the words 'Risk of Local Flooding' are on the weather that often, I don't really pay it any attention any more.

Being half Irish, the only place on this planet I have been, that has more rain than us, is Knock in Ireland. It is NEVER dry there, just variations of Rain.

**Note, sorry if anyone here lives in County Mayo but I am sure you will back me up on this.

Update

ok.....

SSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO a sad update.

Maybe I can bother you fellas for some more insight.

The X5 is almost back to normal.....

I SUCCESSFULLY resolved my water damage issues. No sign of any offending scents and all carpet is dry as a bone. Im good!

However..... the backlight on the stereo does NOT shut off and is causing a drain on the battery. I have now replaced the battery and it continues to get power drained from it.

I tried pulling the face off the radio, no difference. there is still a drain on the battery.

I tried pulling the fuses, # 7, #73, #74 all had radio ties, no difference! the radio faceplate back light still shines.

I'm not even sure how the rain getting in through the sunroof affected all this.....

Im bummed... please offer up some inight fellas.....

William... are you awake and working?

Good day!!

I am up and working... But today is Friday!! So, what we need to do is look for that circuit that is causing the power drain... Do you know if the vehicle is going to sleep? I'm guessing whatever is causing the issue is keeping the vehicle awake... You have the amp meter... Hook it up to the positive side of the battery cable... if you can hook it up so that everything is closed, that would be best... Check the reading... Wait the 16 minutes for it to go to sleep.... If the reading is pretty much the same, the issue is keeping the car awake... Now, pull fuses in the back until you get a huge drop in amps... If no change, put that fuse back... The one that gives you a significant drop in amps is pulling the battery flat... It may be a few items or systems connected to any one fuse...

Oh, the radio can get power even if everything else is off, IIRC!!! The key doesn't even have to be in the ignition... I just hit the power button and it starts up the tunes... Auto shut off in 15 minutes, I think... BUT!!!

Okay, gotta get back to work...

Let us know!!

Cheers!!!
