Update Tuesday Morning
For anyone that cares.... here is a quick update.
Soooooo this morning I re-assembled the overhead may light console, ALOT more involve than I thought as one of the inserts fell out and I had hard time figuring out that jigsaw puzzle, happy to report all the light work and are in good working order. The moon roof, didnt work.... I looked it up and found a video from a dealer to be able to "re-initialize" the moon roof and WHAMMO it worked! My stability control light came on for a bit..... drove around a bit and it turned off. Radio back light is still one after I turn the X5 off but hopefully that will sort out. Right now everything is back in working order. I shop vac'd the hell out of the carpets and it is only damp the the touch right now. I also ran to Home Depot and rented these cool little tazmanian devil fans that pack a wallup..... I'm running those for the next 12 hrs. I'm confident the disaster has been sorted. Fingers crossed fellas. Breathing again in Socal. |

Clarification
Just to clarify..... i forget which one of our members had pointed out that "I SAID IT RAINED A LOT LAST NIGHT"
I did. I realized that "perception" is the operative word here. I live in Socal...... we got 2 weeks of rain over the last 5 years so to us a lot of rain is very different than someone from lets say.... Seattle. When I said a lot of rain he assumed there was 2-3 inches of rain INSIDE the cab..... "A LOT" of rain....... That was not the case at all........ I understand the miscommunication and I apologize. It did rain a lot but it was more of a sprinkle over several hours not a Typhoon. To us.... that was A LOT of rain (see above) That's not to say the carpet barely got wet, they did get wet but there was no standing water just wet to the touch. This is why I am taking a chance in not pulling out the seats and removing the carpets...... I'm hoping i can get the inside dried the way I'm doing it. Fingers crossed. Pre-H20 |

To steal a quote from Game of Thrones - "You know nothing, John Snow!" I live in London, England. It must be the world capital for sodding RAIN! It is always raining or about to rain. And every type of rain you can think of..... the words 'Risk of Local Flooding' are on the weather that often, I don't really pay it any attention any more. Being half Irish, the only place on this planet I have been, that has more rain than us, is Knock in Ireland. It is NEVER dry there, just variations of Rain. **Note, sorry if anyone here lives in County Mayo but I am sure you will back me up on this.

Update
ok.....
SSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO a sad update. Maybe I can bother you fellas for some more insight. The X5 is almost back to normal..... I SUCCESSFULLY resolved my water damage issues. No sign of any offending scents and all carpet is dry as a bone. Im good! However..... the backlight on the stereo does NOT shut off and is causing a drain on the battery. I have now replaced the battery and it continues to get power drained from it. I tried pulling the face off the radio, no difference. there is still a drain on the battery. I tried pulling the fuses, # 7, #73, #74 all had radio ties, no difference! the radio faceplate back light still shines. I'm not even sure how the rain getting in through the sunroof affected all this..... Im bummed... please offer up some inight fellas..... William... are you awake and working? |
