On the X5 side of things I ordered the ibus interface today. Its coming from overseas so no idea how long to get here. Im guessing a week.

Once it gets here I will buy the app to run on the radio to control it.

Then we will see if that will give full obc control to be able to reset mpg, distance traveled, etc.

So were in the home stretch.

Still waiting on part for the obc control. No email and no tracking number. Heck no contact other than paypal telling me they paid them.

I sent them an email today asking for an update.

Will update when I have info.

Cross referenced the deka intimidator battery to a napa legened battery and picked one up this morning.

Wasn't any cheaper than getting the deka labeled version just the local napa had it in stock so I went with it since its the exact same battery. Also I get a warranty that's nice and local too. Win win.

My repair on the old battery actually work pretty good but it still doesn't have very deep reserves power wise. Cranks fine after fixing it but if I leave the doors open for awhile it runs it down pretty fast to the hard to get the starter to engage point again. So its not perfect but definitely improved after using that charger on it.

With this new battery I wont have issues with my various installs running the battery down.

I wonder if this will be made into a compressed how-to article once all is said and done?

so you bought the unit directly from their website? how did you even stumble across it in the first place?

I will do a complete howto on my website when done and link it here plus I will try to condense it all down in the end on here too

The way I found the one I went with was by accident. I was hunting for a radio for my wife's Pacifica and found that company. Very happy I did.

While I was on the site I figured I would see what they had for the X5 and they have a bunch of different X5 radios to chose from.

You might want to consider a quick disconnect for battery. I installed it for safety purposes but have found it has saved me tons of time when I am doing something where the battery should be disconnected.

I thought about it but I don't like disconnects that extend the wires and the disconnects I use that go on the battery itself would be an act of congress to get to since I have to remove the spare tire to get to it. I go that far I'll have my tools out anyway to get the x brace off from under the tire so undoing the battery wouldn't be that big of a deal. I have them on just about everything else I own but I probably wont do one on the x5. Also I want to keep it looking 100% stock even though it wont be

All other bmw's have them but all I have to do on them is remove the plastic cover from over the battery and turn the knob.

Who knows though I may end up doing it eventually. They do come in handy.
