My 2005 X5 Aftermarket Radio Install Thread

I've purchased the Seicane S6902 headunit, should be here in a week or so. Excited to install, but waiting for your final parts list for all the connections such as rear view camera and the IBUS interface.

Just so I am clear, the Seicane head unit itself standalone is plug and play and shouldn't have any issues working out of the box. The IBUS interface you are working on is soley to get all of the IBUS information to play nice with the head unit?

The ibus addon I am doing is strictly for resetting the mpg, the dash clock, etc. It isn't needed for the radio install itself.

When you install an aftermarket radio you lose the ability normally to reset the mpg and such. This is to solve that.

Also I added a link in my signature that has all the details on the install and at the end of it is a list of parts and the links to them. But really the only link that is there right now is the one to the seicane site and the model number for the radio since I don't like the backup camera I went with

I also ordered a Seicane unit a day before a major holiday there. They have been in contact but have not shipped unit as yet. I ordered the 9 in. screen version because I will be using torque app all the time.

Does the unit connect to the existing FM antenna or does it have a completely separate FM antenna of it's own?

It connects to the factory fm antenna.

China is celebrating "National Day Golden Week". It's a paid holiday that last almost a week.
