The cable I bought to connect the factory gps antenna to the seicane radio arrived today. So I went outside with cigs, drink, phone and tools in hand to install it.

Figured I better make sure it connects to that cable in the hatch area first and sure enough it clicked right on the factory gps antenna !

But it didn't fit the radio

So I just ordered an sma to smb connector from amazon. That will get here Monday......

I guess I should be happy to some extent as Im not really wanting to finish all of this. I mean I want to do all the mods but I know one day I will "finish" upgrading it. I don't want to finish. The journey is so much fun

At my age its about the most enjoyment I get out of my vehicles is the modding and upgrading them.

Anyways the adapter is on its way. I've been sidetracked with other stuff all week so I didn't get anything else done and the weather has been very cold here which is rare for this time of year.

So it looks like next week will be when I get back to the X5 stuff. I have to put new struts and back brakes on the wifes Pacifica Friday and promised to spend time with her the rest of the weekend.

FYI to those following this thread. Hopefully mine is an isolated issue, but I hardly received the claimed turn around times on my order with Seicane. I ordered mine on October 6th. I waited until the 12th to send an email inquiring about my order and got an email back on the 13th stating it would ship in 1-2 days. I waited until the 18th before sending another email to which they responded with a tracking number claiming my order had shipped. That tracking number was inactive & not found until today the 21st. So while it finally appears to be on its way, for whatever reason it took 2 weeks to process my order.

Should get it Monday if you received a tracking number on the 18th.

Radio got here within a day of the tracking number actually tracking best I remember. Was real fast once it shipped. Let me go check the first pages and see.

The one I just ordered to use the factory gps antenna I got from amazon. The cable fit the car but didn't fit the radio. I have an adapter ordered. I hate linking parts till I have it working.

Again this has NOT been tested to work since its not here yet but here is the adapter I ordered..

and this is the cable I ordered,,

The adapter shows to be here Monday. When it gets here I will post the results.

I wanted to archive this vid for anyone with dsp that goes with a radio that doesn't have dsp a dsp solution provided.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Rgnk1vfOhM

Using the info in that video means dsp will work I would think with anything. If its an android unit and you add the ibus adapter I went with you then have complete dsp control even if the radio you bought doesn't have anything for dsp built in.

It may help someone one day.

This is the most exciting thing in this thread... for me. This is the reason the factory nav unit is still in mine 2 years after purchasing. I did not want to relocate a MID or the nav screen somewhere else in the vehicle.

Now I feel all Mr Burns and will be doing my upgrade sooner rather than later.
