so, just an update on this..
I NEVER did get a dyno to prove HP/TQ before or after this mod, but I swore that as soon as I installed it, that it was making my drive form a stand still torquier than the factory e53 TB.
I have since removed it (and an reusing factory e53 TB again) to figure out a way to stiffen the inside of black plastic tube (as mechs kept overtightening the tube/silicone adapter clamp and eventually buckled the tube, allowing for external air to come in from the sides) and right away I noticed a reduction in low end torque.

I'm sure it could be all in my head, but I swear the difference from N62B4.4 & B4.8's TB used in e53s is somehow different from the one on the N62B4.8 of the E70.

It is definitely worth my time/money to see if I can buy a thin walled pipe to insert into the black plastic tube leading up to the silicone adapter/e70 throttle body, as I really want to put this back on my e53 but this mod will then avoid any over tightening of the hose clamp on the silicone adapter to the black plastic tube.
If it was just me ever working on the e53 then I'd be safe with the clamps tightening... but I do have other mechs work on it and they have less attention to this customized detail.

Will keep you up to date on this fun little experiement/mod (that may be useless to most unless you have some sort of upgraded mapping/software loaded)

Hey Clockwork, maybe pick up a section of 4" round hvac duct and cross section it to fit in to your factory air tube? If you riveted it back together and attached it to the air tube using two part epoxy, between the aluminum and the cured epoxy, should be pretty rigid.

Would want to be super careful that nothing would get sucked in to the TB though.. would almost make me want to figure out some mechanical form of attaching that internal collar, but then you have to think about sealing it back up..

yeah, the route i'm going.. nothing can break or be sucked in. will update when exhaust pipe part comes in and I get to cut some off to fit inside the plastic tube.

UPDATE:
So I got a 88.9mm (3" ) OD exhaust piece and cut a 3cm long section and inserted it into the black tubing, by use of a heat gun. It's a super snug fit. I then pressed the silicone adapter back on and hose clamped and tested. The metal insert does a perfect job at making the plastic tube rigid! There is some metal sticking out but it doesn't interfere with the throttle body as the length of the silicone adapter is much longer. Bolted the e70 N62B48 throttle body on, and pressed the silicone adapter on then connected the other end of MAF and tightened all hose clamps.
Amazing fit!! It SLIGHTLY presses up against the electric fan housing but causes ZERO concerns.
I have my low end torque back.

That is outstanding! And from the pictures it looks like you still get great bite on not only the new support coupler but the intake tube and TB as well, that's impressive actually

I was actually "excited" at the opportunity that my tps may be failing, I was looking forwarding to picking up a 4.8 TB and following in your footsteps! Now, don't get me wrong, I was really excited when I fixed a non sealing oil filler cap and solved all of my idle and surge problems, but at heart I was a little bit sad that I didn't have a good excuse to do it...

EDIT - I just saw the "Do not remove" - LOVE IT!!
