I am due for doing this task as well. I do have a ball joint separator fork tool that I bought a while ago (ended up not using it but kept it), but after seeing your video I think I am going to rent the ball joint separator from the autoparts store to have that available during the repair as well... :-)
Of course! I if you are referring to the tool I am thinking of.. it will not fit in this ball joint The CV axle is in the way. The ball joint tool will reach places like the tie rod end. Make sense?

Wow. Americans don’t seem to have rust on their continent! Mine were fused into the hub and almost indistinguishable from it.... after two hours of fcking about with hammers etc etc, I ended up taking the hub off - which only took 10 minutes. Applied some map gas for a few minutes (which burnt off the surface rust and re-showed the join between the hub and joint) then 7 or 8 blows from a club hammer/mallet (you can easily attack the top/back of the ball joint with the hub off the car) and the joint came out.... my car is a 2004 car with 100,000 miles....

I've seen some DIYs where an Air Hammer is the best way to get it to budge. I had one handy the other day too but didn't need it : )

my car has lived in Florida all its life so that would probably be the reason why. But I'm very grateful for that. People up north in the snow have a lot to mess with with the rust

That really only leaves Meyle HD...
There’s a few others available. I’m about to install febi bilstein to the rear inc ball joint, control arms, integral link etc for both sides at approx (parts only) $350AUD.

Cheers

$20 for a job of 2 new front ball joints is unheard of!

I wish I have your skills, OP!
