My gauge sits straight up at 90C. If I jump on the throttle, the DME sends a signal to the heated thermostat and the temperature will drop as much as 10C. My gauge reflects that just as I would expect. It moves a little to the left. I now have a actual accurate gauge the way I want it. Plus, with my recommended hex code the red is now 115C and gives me more than enough time to shut it down if I have an overheating event long before the engine is hurt.

Make sure to look for the code in both these lines of your Gauge EEPROM hex code 80stech:
0x0F0 rolling into 0x100 0x290 rolling into 0x02A0 And here are is the original hex code with the modified hex code underneath. Just change the ones in bold: 0F 65 32 D0 4B D0 73 38 78 69 7D FF 0F 65 3C D0 55 D0 5F 38 6E 69 73 FF

K, got it!
I needed to use the binoculars! Cheers ![]() I guess no checksum needed with redundant code. Good learning experience though for down the road.

So with your numbers the red lite comes on at 115 not 110 right?

I want to do this fix asap! The moronic non gauge is one of the worst things ever. I drove my car months never getting to closed loop because the needle pointed to noon and the temp was 74c!

I think the red light comes on at a value from the DME (that has not been modified) but it is too late at that point. My drop dead red marker on the gauge comes on at 115C instead of 125C. (50 degrees F)
