Thermostat reattach fighting me
Almost ready for first startup after headgasket and I’m attaching the WPump and thermostat and it seems there is a stud in what I think should be a bolt hole on the lower right attaching spot. I certainly still have a leftover bolt that must go there. Only thing I can think is the machine shop put it there as a hanging point. I suppose I could just put a 10mm nut on but the stud is too short-only about 1 thread of bite protrudes.
Good grief! Should it have a stud there at all? I wonder what to do now? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Some t-stat have a stud and use a nut. You can go either way. Often a stud will come out and seem like a bolt. I would remove the stud and use the bolt you have. Just be careful use a drop of penetrant

Was thinking that maybe but I have 4 bolts in a bag (1 is 13mm). I could startup as is I suppose and deal with it after.

I can only speak for mine, I had no stud, all bolts in mine. I would probably grab a 4th, long enough bolt from my local parts store and remove the stud...
I know when I boggered my trans pan bolt I was able to find a 10mm (they didn’t have torx) bolt at NAPA that matched threads and used it as a stop gap until my new bolt set arrived from FCPEuro. |
