Went to install the thrust arms and saw... brand new thrust arms installed already?? Wasn't sure what was going on and after some further inspection I found the lower control arm (not the main thrust arm, the smaller straighter silver one) bolt was loose. I could shake the whole control arm by hand... tightened it up, went on a drive. Shaking is gone, drives really smooth now! Nice. Gonna return those thrust arms to FCP ![]() Guess the X5 is happy I'm taking care of her because the floormats - which didn't even show shipped yet - arrived today! ![]() ![]() These are the velour floormats which I really love because they are super soft and don't have the raised heel pad area on the driver's side. I drive barefoot a lot, and on other cars my heel tends to get caught in the gap between the raised pad and the main floormat, which is rather uncomfortable. The rubber floormats were obviously rather uncomfortable as well. Keeping those around though - I figure I'll throw em in the trunk, if I ever drive somewhere dirty I'll throw em over the velour mats to protect em Ordered tires - rears were new from 2018 with less than 4k miles, bought a set of new matching fronts so I'll have 4 of the same brand and model tire installed. Where else can I spend money on this thing... ![]() |

I think you should take off that nasty ass aero kit. Put that shit in a box. And send it off to me for disposal. I’ll even send you my iS flares to make yours look proper. Yea.
Otherwise looks good.

![]() Spent some time on the X5 earlier today diagnosing the last fault light on the cluster - the Self-Levelling Suspension Inactive. Records indicate this car has been driving locked in this mode since 2015! But the previous owner(s) dumped a fair chunk of change into new front and rear Arnott airbags so it'll be nice to get it operating properly First I tested the compressor... whhhhrrrr... powered right up, pressurized the reservoir. No issue there. So my next logical suspicion was the level sensors... ![]() Not sure why this pic came out so grainy... ![]() Immediately the front left sensor stood out to me as it was at 0 whereas the other 3 registered similar values. Lifting the front axle, the front right sensor value changed. Lifting the rears, the rear values changed. The front left sensor never changed from 0... New front left height sensor ordered ![]() |

Nice work. Always fun to bring these things back up to tip-top condition.
Like the mats too. I also like to drive barefoot, had the rubber mats, and ditched them for new OE carpeted ones. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() Not much done today but I did update to V32 software on the nav, I love me some perspective mode even if it isn't super useful Now the question is, do I upgrade the nav unit, or buy a replacement screen without bad pixel spots and leave it original. I feel like everything else on this car is original and in good shape so it only seems fair to install a good screen... but at the same time, I wouldn't mind more functionality from something like an avin avant... but those cost nearly $500 in the correct spec for this car (DSP and all that crap). Sooo I think I'll go OE, I'll keep an eye out for a good screen for a reasonable price ![]() |

I have version 32 in my E46 and love the perspective view. That's been in there since 2008 or 2009 I think...

I'm one of the people that also likes the original, but I may drop the coin on one of those units. Will bring the car up to modern spec, as far as carplay and all the cool shit the new cars have.

![]() I believe you can just buy the LCD panel for the nav screen and replace that. Not sure how difficult that is though. |
