. It now has the original nut and bolts with a new regulator and regulator guides and new clips. Just think I need a new motor. I saved the original regulator and I am ordering new guides so I will have a backup on hand in case it goes out again. Thanks for your help! |

Is this what was used to bolt your window glass to the guide clip?

I believe so, I had heard of this "hack" on YouTube, but it didn't seem to help on this one. The clip was still in bad shape.

Here's where those bolts may have come from: Ebay
Since that method is still dependent on the cheap black window clips it doesnt seem like it really solves the problem because it's the black clips that break! And at $12 per window it is highway robbery! |

The guide rails front and back need lubrication. Silicone spray is supposed to be the best option. I've used Teflon spray in the past. The root of the problem is too much friction on the guide rails.

I lubed up everything with a cable lubricant that contains silicone. I use it on my motorcycle for the seat release. It works great, before I started using it I couldn't get my seat to latch properly.

The key thing to lubricate is the back and front of the glass edge. There is negligible friction in the cable mechanism it uses pulleys.

I thought the most friction would come from the guides on the regulator, I lubricated the surfaces of the guides that touch the rail of the regulator. I did not lubricate the front an back edges of the glass, but I will do this when I get home.

The glides on the regulars prob less than ten percent of the friction the vast majority of the friction is on the window edge. When I lubricated mine they sped up 60%

Can you lube the edges when the door panel is on? Say rolling down the window a little bit and spraying the edges?
