A quick eBay search showed used sap and valves available for a reasonable price. I've not read good things about the cheap aftermarket ones, but have no personal experience with them either.
Here is a rundown of the secondary air system for anyone interested. https://bimmertips.com/what-does-the...y-air-pump-do/

Thanks. I considered that, but I think a used one from a car with 200k miles is probably on the verge of going. $50 shipped, I'll try the cheap one. I don't see much downside. Not like it's a timing belt.

Sound logic. Keep this thread updated with which one you get and its longevity. More options are always good.

I bought a generic one off ebay. Seems like many vendors have this part. I will post the link and let you all know how it fits and works.

Dude... that is pretty cool detail. I should try it. Do you think my unit uses the same bearing? How could I verify?

I got my chinese knock-off SAP installed. the unit is suprisingly very solid and well built. came with new rubber mount screws. I installed it last night and it worked great this morning... no more lift off noise! The connection of the plastic hose to the valve was kind of loose. it was ok, but could have been tighter. it didnt really snuggly fit on like the other side. I did wrap a bit of black electric tape at the connection, just for added measure. if the unit fails, I will update this post.

It’s not a mission critical component and relatively easy to replace, can you share the exact brand? I rolled.the dice on a knock off brand of abs sensor and was very happy with the results (AIP I think), bit also tried to use off brand of O2 sensors and will not do that again (already from very beginning knew not to use other than OEM for cam sensor or MAF)

Hi -
I dont even think there was a brand. it the basic knock off that many sellers have on ebay. they must just crank them out in China... seller is Autopartsclub2018, was good service on their part. I am going to try and rebuild the old one for fun this winter, if I am bored... I always like to do little stuff like this to build up my skills. I once followed a DIY procedure where I replace a heat fuse in the AC compressor while it was still in the car... it worked, but was not fun. When it ultimately failed years later, I just replace the entire compressor and that has been fine.
