Ive got access to INPA and BMW Scanner. Any preference? Also, what error specific should I be looking for?

Just now tried disconnecting both sensor plugs and I get the same thing. So now I suspect fuel or an EWS problem. I’m not getting any crank now. Currently trying to trickle charge my battery. I’ll check for any EWS issues. I don’t understand how changing the SAP could cause this. Unless these were issues unbeknown to me.

edit: it's cranking again now.

BMW scanner should be able to scan all modules including EWS. I don't have any experience with the laptop software that's for somebody else to chime in.

Stone cold dead battery is usually what kills the EWS sync. I see it about once a year on xoutpost.

If you are not worried about theft, delete the EWS. It can be done. I did it to mine while troubleshooting a parasitic amp draw. The temporary delete removed all security issues as cause of an amp draw. It worked great.

Update.

Ran INPA and it pulled up an "Error 15: power-on-reset" and nothing else. JobStatus said OKAY at the top. The car does ding when I put put the key in, turn to position 1 in the ignition, and open the door. Any takes on Error 15?

I did do a voltage test on the battery using Option 9 in the Hidden Menu.. 10.9v - 11.0 volts on the battery. Could that be the cause?

I'm beginning to think my issue is fuel delivery now.

Haha. I'd rather not do that. Especially in the area where I live. I love my car too much.

Update.

Because I had the error 15 on EWS in INPA; I made the dumb decision to try to resync the EWS/DME rolling codes to see if that would resolve the issue. After resyncing using INPA I'm no longer getting any crank or spark when turning the key.

I ran INPA on the engine again and now I'm getting an error 209 - which points me back to an issue with the EWS. I'll create another thread for that issue specifically.

Since I was able to remove the SAP originally; that issue has been fixed. Thanks guys.

11v resting is a dead battery but you said it cranks.

Check for fuel pressure. You can use an old timey tire pressure gauge. Get a $1 one from a $1 store it will effectively be single use.
