I keep looking at the photos (including the red X5 in the link above) and then looking under my hood and it certainly looks tight! Since my 4.8is is brand new, I don't want to have to mess around with a bad fit.

Thanks,

John
The bar comes with instructions telling you which leg of the reservoir needs to be trimed to fit the bar.

Thanks, so it really does not fit without modification, my eye is not deceiving me after all!

I may wait a while, I've only got 2,000 km on it so far, so I am not in a cutting frame of mind.

John

Well...it looks like the seller had lowered the price on the "black aluminum" model to $175 from $225 (last week's price). Looky here => http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-06...spagenameZWDVW

Unfortunately, he still hasn't answered any of my questions regarding actual installed pictures on an X5 (just wanted to verified his "non-modification" statement) as well as possible group buy opportunities. Oh well...

It looks a bit flimsy to me. Compare that one to the Dinan strut bar. Big difference. I think I would save up a few bucks and buy the Dinan one.

Your not the guy selling them are you??

Do you have a picture of it installed on your X5?? It may be made well and have a nice finish. However, it would appear to me that the the strut bar is mounted along it's weaker axis as opposed to being mounted with the bar being upright. All of the strut bars I have seen have more structural rigidity in their design that the Ebay one.

no. for $175 i thought i'll give one a shot and its very well made fits well and seems to work fine. the reason i posted was, some guys were wondering if it would fit without any mods to the washer bottle and it does. as for weak point its solid and i was very suprised well worth the money and lets be honest how many of us track our Xs? and really throw them into corners. its a good mod and if it saves you around $400 why not.

f355b,

If you were not a seller, then you should buy it, install, take picture and show us how nice it looks.
