It would be great if someone could consolidate this thread....I started reading back to front, then front to back - and I'm still reading about the torch and a 12v outlet on the passenger side!

It would be nice to know what the 3.0i has for options compared to the V8 models. I'd like to know what little additions I could easily add on to further add to the BMW experience haha.

So if anyone knows some insight as to what models came with what, that'd be great! I know my 3.0i has no flash light, which sucks other then that, not too sure what the differences are!

Anyone clarify the weird safety light thing. Sometimes when washing and waxing the X, the driver rear taillight and front directional light stay on. It's how I found my battery was weak.

That's a feature. If you turn your blinker on after shutting the engine down, it will leave the turn indicator lights on. Apparently for European countries with more narrow roads and less light, so you don't get run into while parked on the side of the road at night.

My guess is you have bumped the turn signal stick while getting out, wiping down the dash/steering column. Just move the stick back to off and they will go out.

The back compartment on the right in the wall of the trunk is perfect for storing booze...if you happen to be under 21.

The bottom of the back seat pops up off the car for easy cleaning if something gets down through where the seat belt receiver is

The rear view fogs up if you turn the A/C on full and its really humid.

You're not actually supposed to let your car sit and warm up. The manual says put it in drive and don't let it sit.

There are wheel chocks next to the spare tire in the back.

If your center console is the deep version, it functions as a perfectly good cigar humidor.

The back seats lean up and down a little...and there are additional controls for it back where the tailgate is.
Crap, I just bought two wheel chocks yesterday. Really, no kidding...

?? ok what does this mean ? if the X sits in HEAVY traffic for over 10minutes can we expect failed engines?

No it means don't start your car on a cold day a just let it idle to warm up. Get in it and drive. If your sitting in traffic your car has most likely warmed up enough to get the juices flowing.

Pretty sure the 3.0's came with torches in the glove box too.

The thread was mostly summarized back in 2007 http://www.xoutpost.com/324024-post183.html

The tranny "reset" was clarified later though http://www.xoutpost.com/904518-post543.html

Beyond that I doubt anything new came up. I think the 12v thingy keeps coming back because not all year/models/continents have that standard.
