Coding???

Hi, When I press the unlock button on my remote....once to unlock the drivers door, twice to unlock all the doors AND when I hold the unlock button the windows and sunroof open. The same procedure for locking. All works except the windows and sunroof do not close using the remote. (they do however when I put the key in the door and turn and hold it.) The information I have found tells me the the lock, close and windows up feature has to be coded. Here's the question. What does that mean? Does anyone know how to do this ???? OR do I have to take it to a BMW dealer and pay $$$$$ for them to do this? If someone could provide the steps to do this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
