Coding???

Hi, When I press the unlock button on my remote....once to unlock the drivers door, twice to unlock all the doors AND when I hold the unlock button the windows and sunroof open. The same procedure for locking. All works except the windows and sunroof do not close using the remote. (they do however when I put the key in the door and turn and hold it.) The information I have found tells me the the lock, close and windows up feature has to be coded. Here's the question. What does that mean? Does anyone know how to do this ???? OR do I have to take it to a BMW dealer and pay $$$$$ for them to do this? If someone could provide the steps to do this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My understanding is that this is a safety feature - to make sure you're watching while rolling up the windows to ensure no-one gets trapped

You can roll everything up by putting the key in the lock, and holding it in the lock position until all the windows shut. You can hold it unlocked to open everything, but that also works from the key.

I don't believe you can have this enabled with coding (not officially anyway!)

Best

There are two types of coding; key coding which can be done by the owner and there are some limited info in the manuals and then there is car coding which your stealer has to do.

Currently, my X5 can open and close the windows by holding down on the third press of the remote. Other features such as lights and audible sounds are also part of the coding. I don't know if the stealer will charge but get the full list of options you want from this link and get them all done at the same time
