Cold cracked my wood trim...... Pics added

It was about 5-10 degrees here yesterday and when I got into my X5 the wood trim over the radio had a huge crack in it. I think it was from the heat blasting on the cold piece. Anyways it sucks so be careful- I'm aiming those vents in the center upwards from now on.

1st pic is the trim over the radio

2nd pic is similar cracks on the door piece, which were already there when I bought it

it looks like someone drew on the piece with a thin pen, its only noticeable when it shines because the crack breaks it up... i'll take some pics

Heat fluctuation cracked it? Seems odd. It was 11 here the other day and I took the X out full blast with the heat, no wood trim issues. I wouldn't think the heat from the heater vents could get hot enough fast enough to cause temperature change in the wood as much as to crack it.....interesting though.

Yea, I don't know its the only thing that I could think of, I went to the gym and when I got back in there was a crack, no one could have used it. Also a similar thing happened to my windshield, I had a deep rock chip and the first time it was really cold out there was a long crack coming from the chip...maybe my X5 is prone to cracks...I've had similar cracks in my wood trim on the driver's door and a couple on the console but they were there when I purchased it. Oh well maybe I'll get new trim... or nav.
