You really should not use a pressure washer of any sort. Pressure washers will force water into places you thought water couldn't go. Places such as valve cover gaskets, pulley bearings, alternator bearings, crankshaft end seals. The water can also penetrate the outer covering one hoses and wire bundles causing damage you won't see until it is too late.
If the product you are using doesn't work with a rinse from a garden hose, you should not use it. Simple Green (I am not being paid in anyway) does work with just a light rinse. I even use a spray (not straight stream) from the hoes end. Best of all Simple Green is biodegradable. Just rinse the drive way off when your done. It also works on tires and rims.

I'm pretty sure I said in the original post that I TURNED THE PRESSURE DOWN on the jet wash.
The average UK garden hose (well, at least the last 3 houses I lived in anyway) is no competition for a dehydrated geriatric in a urinating competition!!! |

My point being. . .The less pressure the safer it is for all those things that don't like water.
If you haven't tried Simple Green I suggest you do. You can (and will) do as you wish. I'm just trying to suggest an alternative that does a very good job, for a low price, and for very little effort. I haven't tried it; but, I'm pretty sure Simple Green and your dehydrated geriatric would do a pretty good job cleaning under the hood also. If you could get past the smell of burning urine the next time you drive away that is.

I washed my engine this morning. Simple Green and a garden hose with a jet nozzle. Looks like new! After completely soaking everything the engine it turned over instantly. I have to believe a clean engine runs cooler and I will spot any leaks easier, sure looks prettier. I like looking at engines. Now days everything is hidden. Now if there was only some chrome valve covers or an air cleaner to shine?
