wait the price has come down to $990 from $1490???/ hmmmm getting better. I got another follow up from them about a week ago and I basically told them for the $1490 they were charging I would never buy one. A GP for a lil cheaper and I would be in. I would like to put mine on a four wheel dyno....if that is possible....hmmmmmm |

I can see what I can do, I know a few guys that are big names in the car tuning business. Let's create a list to see who'd be interested if we can get the price lowered from 990$.
I'm not on the list, as I don't have the funds, nor will I get them anytime soon. And at 17, I don't have a job, but I love doing this kind of stuff for folks ![]() 1) Intel55

Guys, PC will not do group buys and this is from experience with dealing with them over there. What somebody could do is ask if they can lower the price which all the M5 guys have done. PC by itself pretty much only smooths the throttle. HP gain was minimal on the dyno by itself. PC IMHO is only advantageous when you install exhaust, CAI race cats and headers into the equation. PC will custom program your ECU for timing/fuel map etc. We saw over 30hp gain with headers and PC combined on the S62. Don't believe the hype when they say 20+ hp gain etc especially on NA cars by a chip itself.

Powerchips is offering $100 off the $990 price for X5world members, according to an email they sent me a few weeks ago.

hmmm I never got that email, might check it out. As to the chip getting 20HP I think it attainable with this engine. I am sure the software that is oem installed in plain vanilla stuff so people who run it to the edge won't go over. Giving it more timing and changing the fuel maps and leaning it out a lil, etc should net it 20hp. IMO |

Not trying to spoil the party here, but do you guys really thing you will feel a 20hp gain (which will translate to maybe 8-9hp at the wheels) on a car that weights 2300kg and already has 320hp (4.4i) ?

I think you will, but just slightly. What I think you'll notice more is the smoothness of the engine and the delivery of the power. I also understand you get a slightly better sound. Having said that - it's just my $.02 - no experience at all with this. However, if you've ever "re-jetted" a carburated Harley (as I've done), I suspect the change you'll realize will be similar..., just a bit better all around... Still, I can't wait until someone can give us a real report!
