Yeah, but I think as someone else pointed out, you're generally on here posting because you have an issue so it's likely slanted towards "there's a lot of issues". If you (or previous owners) don't keep up with routine and preventative maintenance, it'll very likely come back to bite you. I just got mine used last year and have to do all the usual stuff so I know it's been done. I also have to do as much as I possibly can myself because I can't afford taking it to the dealer I'm very happy to have found a site like this with very knowledgeable people!

We should all keep the mileage in our sigs and update it every month or so

I'd have to keep my car for a very long time to see that kind of mileage. My 08' E92 coupe has 5,300 miles on it and I picked it up in April and my fiance puts about 100 miles a week on the X5.

Heres the truth -we all just really love our X5 because if we didnt we wouldnt call them good trucks.. Because the truth is they suffer from lots of things and somethings to get repaired are hell.. like a alternator is a $2k job at dealer and $1k for a air bag replacement and install for the rear air suspension-that for a v8)... THIS IS WHY WHEN THESE TRUCKS DONT HAVE WARRANTY THEY LOSE LOTS OF VALUE!!

3.0 suffer from less thing.. easy to work on. no air suspension 2000-2003. no water cooled alternator and so much less things to worry about compared to the v8.

I've got over 140,000 on my 05 (purchased it new from Greenville SC). It's a pleasure to drive everyday for work, all interstate miles in the central to western part of North Carolina. I enjoy going to work everyday! No major issues at all (brakes, oil, windsheild wipers)....just the norm.

BMW engines are known to be great and long running... but the rest of the car can fall apart like the water pump, the shocks, the electronics... One thing they know how to make is a good engine, thats for sure.
