Can I buy this X5? Pls suggest

I am trying to buy 2006 X5 3.0 Manual Black\Brown Leather Premuim Package, Sports package ,25,500 Miles from a private dealer. I ran the car fax and it says previously leased car in Fl. This dealer bought this truck in auction in Georgia. He advertised it for $33K (Way above than market) but negotiated on phone to $28K as I live in TX. So if I need to buy this one I am going to pay $28K+$1K for shipping +$2000 for tax and tags=$31K in total. I got this one inspected through my friend who lives in MD but I am planning to go there and inspect the truck myself befor handing over the check. I know all this sound silly butI want a manual X5 and not able to get one in my area.
Please suggest if I can buy and If i can buy this from a private dealer. Do you guys think I will regret with this purchase with gas at $4 and no resale value for SUV's and particularly manual.

first :xoutpost:

They all come with manuals

But just see what hte manufacturer date is on the sticker on the inside of the door - ask the dealer to read it to you.

I don't think you'll regret the purchase, if you can afford the x5 in the first place and the maint, gas is a minor concern LOL. Well depends how much you drive too. The manual will help you get a little bit more mpg's.

FWIW I'm not a big fan of buying a used car off a private dealers lot - a lot of shady cars out there on the auction circuit. I prefer to buy privately or from a dealership.

As for the other questions about manual trans., gas prices etc. only you can answer that question.

Good luck

Thanks for the input. I am also worried about buying it from Private dealer but also daring to get into deal as it is still under factory warrenty. Manufacture date is 01/06. Will Florida cars have rust as this car was registerd in Hollywood, Fl which is right on the coast line.

I too, would be cautious with a purchase from a private used car lot,
several states away, who copped a car at auction...

You might hit the BMW site, check CPO cars and see if a manual pops
up: I have seen a manual come up a few times and Stlrs will love to
toss them as few of us want/have one.

Yes, all pre-'07s were available with manual; that 6 spd gives you a
better highway cruise ratio, though it is barely overdriven, ratio-wise;
you still have the stump puller 1st gear ratio, however.

I wouldn't sweat an '06 from FL or any coast; unless they sat outside
during a trop storm or 'cane, they should not be more rust prone in
that short of a life span...
do a dig on the BMW site on occasion and see what pops up. I would
not rec'd a used, non-warranty of some kind, X5, imo.

PS: I just did a search and found 84 manual trans X5s of varying
makeup:

What part of Texas are you in?

Have you tried searching Ebay for a 3.0 stick?
