Re: ABS & DSC light on

This morning started the car and the DSC & ABS lights were off.

Came to a stop and when I took off felt the ABS engageing as I started to pull away. It freed up after half a sec. Let me go and the lights came back on. I must have had a speedo too as my odometer moved 1.4 miles. Odd.

Guess I'll see what happens at the dealer Monday

+ 1 on a wheel speed sensor... Had the same issue last winter, except the speedo never quit working.

Not to be too repetitive, but it happened again. Left for an errand, lights off, speedo working (i looked at it this time) after about my third or fourth full stop, felt the ABS kicking in and the DSC trying to DSC me, almost would not move for a sec and then lights came back on and I was free to move again.

But to my original question could all of this also trigger SES light, cause that's on too. Constant since this first happened even when the brake lights and DSC lights were off for their in between time.

I'd like to know what your dealer says. I'm having "some what" the same situation. On cold start-ups, I get the DSC light, ABS and Brake lights. I let the car idle for about 2-3 mins, then turn it off, let her sit for about 2-3 mins, then turn her back on... the lights disappear. They don't come back during the whole day of driving even after turning the engine off. The only time they lights come back are first start-ups early morning. I actually had came from my Indy a few days ago to have new control arms installed and had them run On Board Diagnostics. It read the steering angle sensor. But I would like to hear what your diagnosis is though after your dealer visit...

By a new left rear abs sensor, its easy to cange and cost a lot less (100 dollar in Norway)than taking it in to the dealer.
mine had abs, dsc, break light and no speed/mpg on and off for two weeks, new sensor: all ok.
But i had no SES light.

Re: ABS & DSC light on

Your symptoms mirror mine, but I'm not much of a DIY type. I have a warranty and need a couple of other things done too. SA suggested same sensor per phone diagnosis.

Dealer was right, left rear speed sensor. SES was an O2 sensor, both covered by extended warranty. Had to order. Meanwhile I drive an '09 528I till Monday when it's done.
