Oh bummer man.

Well, the taillights not making great contact with the housing (from the start) surely doesn't help... http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ing-fixed.html

Checking the sockets back there for corrosion couldn't hurt. If all else fails, just carry this.... RealOEM.com * BMW E53 X5 4.6is FIRE-EXTINGUISHER POWDER

JB I'm bumping this from the dead but I'm running the trigger wire into the passenger footwell so I can tap the LCM for factory operation of my angel eyes, where the hell is the pass through in the firewall though? I only see the black, covered ECU box on the right side? Am I missing something

Route trigger behind center console to driver side then into engine bay.

I had a feeling you'd say that. Makes sense! That's how I ran my trigger wire for the rear fog light

Thanks as always JB

No worries bro. You may have to butt splice and extend the trigger with this routing.

Yeah I think I will have to. I enjoy using PosiLocks on my wiring extensions they are a rock solid connection.

I'll prob post up over the weekend because I have a slightly different harness than yours and just want to be sure I am running the correct trigger to the LCM (or are they both the same)

I also will verify 12v with DMM when parking lights are on instead of just assuming the pin location is same lol

UPDATE JB I think you'll appreciate this:

My parking lights (running lights) connection at the LCM on my 9/2003 build was in the same PHYSICAL position as yours, 4th pin down on the left side of the top connector, however, the wire color was green with a brown stripe, different than yours.

Note that these Scotchlok taps included with these relay harnesses are actually a bit too loose on the wire and don't make a good connection. You need to actually squeeze the metal "tap" portion of the actual tap itself so that when you crimp it onto the wire it makes a good connection, or just use a properly spec'd tap for the wire size off the LCM (20 gauge approx?). When I first tapped that wire I noted the angel eyes did not light up but when I undid the tap I noted it barely penetrated the wire jacket.

If anyone is doing this, make sure your tap is making a good connection, but I was same as JB as far as the physical place where the parking lights connection is.

I do not enjoy angel eyes 24/7 nor any DRL for that matter so I am very happy I now have factory operation to my angel eyes.

Hope this helps
