^That mod is coming next lol.

I have to say, even after 2+ years since I brought this up and performed on my vehicle (and it was done years prior by other members on the forum), I still am shocked to say the least about the amount of hugely negative responses from people, as if its a critical piece of safety we are deleting.

I see more positivity about running straight piped and catless.

Rear wiper delete has been a popular modification on Volkswagen GTI's and Golfs for probably damn near close to 15 years now, no one has died from it. And the funniest part is that the people who actually have done it, I have yet to see them posting up that they couldn't live without it and had to reverse it lol

RB, I believe it just depends on the weather in your area. Does the vehicle look nicer with the delete, to me it absolutely does. But with my weather I'd not be able to go a few minutes (not exaggerating here sadly) on certain days. Sadly with our freeze/thaw cycles we get a LOT of window dirt. And these x5's love to cyclone dirt onto rear windows. But again,if I lived where they were not a necessity, I'd remove it too.

^^Mike totally agreed and understood as I mentioned on the last page, yes with Calgary winters I can imagine not the smartest mod. I do get a chuckle out of all the non-winter folk however that are viscerally negative towards it.

yo RB, do you happen to know if the inner diameter of the plug is 33mm and the outer diameter is 43mm? or is the inner diameter supposed to be 43mm?

the only plugs i can seem to find are for a piggy bank

Haha there is so much hate in this thread. I'd delete it if I didn't use it so much in the winter. It does look clean

well its summer now as far as I'm concerned I'm in the group who it won't effect to much, and it looks so ugly on my x... its all sagging and honestly it isn't ever useful to me when i do happen to use it... like everyone else who is deleting it, its just in my way when i actually try to clean my window.

anyone who has done it, did you have you windows tinted before and will it look weird? or has anyone done the wiper removal then tinted there windows?
i may get my windows darker soon so idk if i should tint first or after or if it'll even matter..

It doesn't matter - the rear has factory 30% anyway I think, unless you have one of those rare fishbowl models - mine has been tinted 15% all around a month after my purchase in December 2011.

The size is 1 1/8" plug inner diameter on the hole - 25.4mm is 1" and 1/8" is 3.175mm so a 28.5mm plug would work if you can find that - I found a plug that was 1 1/8 and it still works great.

For those who are wondering, I think I'm at 2+ or even 3+ years since deleting - have not missed it once even in winter
