Here come the safety gurus.

DRL should be for motorcycles only, make us stand out amongst the cages. If a driver can't see a 3 ton SUV on broad fucking daylight they have a problem. If its cloudy or raining out, turn on your parking lights at least, or your low beams, you know why?

Because 85% of these idiots with DRL on their car drive around in the rain and don't turn on their headlights so their rear end has no illumination, talk about unsafe in the rain or foggy condition! Ask any person who doesn't know any better, why they wouldn't turn their lights on if it was foggy or raining out, I guarantee you'll hear "Oh I don't need to it has the daytime lights on". IDIOTS.

Secondly as was said above, cleaning your windows once a week, or keeping a coat of Rain-X on them will do a hell of a lot more for safety keeping your rear window clean, than a wiper that can't even wipe the window cleanly.

/end rant but trying to tell me that DRL somehow should be mandatory on the road is a bit ridiculous to me, as 20 years ago for some reason we all got along just fine without driving around with headlights on during the day.

If you're talking about discerning yourself from other vehicles on the road then DRL is a great idea for motorcycles as most cagers could care less about looking out for them, and it is helpful. But when every cage has headlights on an M/C just blends into the surroundings.

If you can't see a 3 ton SUV during the daytime on the road you either need to get off the phone or get your eyes checked.

Well, not that I agree with everything the government mandates but, hell, I drove tor about 50 years without ABS, stickers on the visors, headrests, etc, on my first few cars I remember drilling holes in the floor to mount seat belts.....
In all seriousness my recent cars have all had automatic on headlights so I don't forget to turn on the lights at "dusk" but how many morons have you seen driving in the dark with NO lights on.....realize that there are a lot of brain dead people driving....and more every day....on phones, texting, playing with the electronics on the dashboard, we need "stuff" that makes cars more IDIOT PROOF UNFORTUNATELY

We are lucky that DRL is not a mandatory feature and we at least have the "choice" unlike our friends up north, Canada you can get a ticket for not having DRL! Crazy!

And yes I am probably much younger at 27 but I'm really starting to get sick of the nanny state and the idiot-proof gizmos that come equipped in our cars any more, a guy can barely change his own oil without resetting the "oil change" computer first. Don't get me started on TPMS, because Firestone had a bad batch of jackhole tires now you have to mandate a system that makes people periodically check their tires?

As if that is going to make soccer mom broads go out and actually do a weekly or monthly check of their tire pressures if the "idiot light" comes on? All they do is just get annoyed and wait weeks to tell the husbands "this light is on on my dashboard can you get rid of it?" meanwhile the tire is long flat.....

That's probably the worst one in my opinion and does no good, there are people who maintain and check their tires and understand those 4 pieces of rubber are the safety they have with the road, and then there's everyone else....

Trying to get this thread back in the right direction, some mods you do to make the car look good, some you do to make things easier. While I like the clean look of the delete, that only accounts for 15% of it. The other 85% is simply because its easier to clean the back glass.

Im just trying out new things and its nothing permanent. If this mod required permanently killing the rear wiper then I probably wouldn't have

No worries Daka I respect you and your opinions/wisdom, I'm not one of those punks who thinks they know everything. Trust me, guys like you who have been riding for years and still alive to talk about it are my inspiration to keep the rubber on the road, and to be sure I am all gear all the time, I ride like everyone is out to kill me, because let's face it they are, even if they don't know it.

Just was sharing my opinion on DRL as I think if it was motorcycle only it would be a lot more useful to us 2-wheeled guys, as of now we bikers are just another set of DRL in a sea of them on the road, doesn't really help us stand out much...

OK, not everything is perfect but, I still think that the DRL's which are generally at a low "wattage" will not interfere with the visual of a motorcycle, (bright headlight) and the safety aspect is very real for everyone....(too bad that they all don't use the BMW idea of using the "angel eyes" as DRL's, but it looks like a few of the newer cars are starting to use led strips as DRL/running lights)

When I enquired for one to suit my Mazda MPS (or Mazdaspeed3 as you guys call them in the states) they told me a VW plug would fit, and it was perfect.

When you think about it, there are probably 5 or 6 companies who manufacture wiper assemblies - the plug size required would relate to the brand of wiper motor used rather than the brand of car.

Good luck with it, let me know how you go!

(Also a tip, yes it's true that having no rear wiper can lead to some situations where you can't see so well out the rear window - like if the car has been sitting parked in the rain, or left out overnight and the window is covered in condensation. I found that applying a coat of RainX every few months made a huge difference.)
Still havent heard back from them oh well...I hope the other plug I ordered will be in this weekend. Not too happy with the current plug I have

Not all of us have the same opinion no offense...in Seattle I can't imagine not having the rear wiper.Especially with the amount of water those 315's lift off of the road...
And btw my wiper wipes the window really well, don't know why you said yours didn't do its job..
