I recommend that you move forward and connect all the wires that you have already identified. Sometimes manufacturers add extra wires for various functions such as motorized antennas, etc. I would not worry about the brown wire for now. Does the installation manual identify this wire? If not I would contact the seller and have them I.D. the wire. It might be a ground wire.

Got my Dynavin E39 yesterday! Installation was a bit more difficult since i was winging it with removing the radio, trim door, fishing the wires etc.
I think the fitment is really nice, very similar to OEM unit. As far as interface and functions, i have mixed feelings... It takes a bit getting used to navigating around, but is easy enough once you figure everything out. For the most part, the interface looks really nice, with the exception of the iPod interface and USB, looks a little generic and "Windows mobile" and lacks the aesthetics of an iPod or iPhone OS. I also like the Navigation as well, looks good and works well. The voice speaks on the front speakers while music continues to play in the rear. As far as issues... i have a couple of big issues as the moment, and not sure if they are install related or not. 1) I can't get the iPod controls to work at all. It shows my iPod but won't let me navigate to the music. I've tried an older iPod video, a Nano, and my iphone. I'm wondering if the BMW "Aux" from my previous OEM radio which is still wired into the main harness has anything to do with it? 2) I cannot get the bluetooth to connect at all. My iPhone (4) won't find the radio and vice versa. Is it not compatible with the latest iPhone?! 3) I've plugged in a USB flash drive and that seems to work ok. Although sometimes it freezes up trying to navigate. I suspect this could be a flash drive brand issue perhaps. 4) The radio is LOUD, i mean really loud. Unfortunately, this is just the "fm radio". Volume on #3 is normal, 4 and 5 it starts getting loud. Above that, is rockin. This is a minor annoyance because if you are going from the USB or CD, etc back to Radio, its twice the volume of the other modes. There's no volume scale, you go from soft to LOUD in 2 clicks. I'm really annoyed at the bluetooth and the ipod not working right now, 2 of the functions i want the most. I'm going to uninstall the OEM "Aux" jack and see if that fixes the ipod issue. But i don't see what is going to help the bluetooth. I'll update if things change. I'll also post a few pics as well.

The big question I have is does it work with the display in the dash?

It does not display anything on the dash, nor on the radio itself. And i don't think it ever will.

Like i said previously in this thread, i jumped on at just the right time when Bimmian.com had them in stock. It was their first shipment and they sold out really fast. I would call Steve at Bimmian and ask him when they expect to get more.
